Some time ago I bid on a BRNO in this caliber on GB and got aced out. I had a good shooting Zastava M70 in 8x57, recent Euro import, and thought it would make a good donor rifle as all that would be needed is to run out the chamber for the longer round. Getting someone to do the job was irksome however, either didn't have a reamer or HS gauges, wanted me to find them etc., too costly or just not interested. So the idea was set aside. Then a fellow posted on my thread on another forum that he knew a smith who had everything needed and gave me their contacts. I got ahold of them and then shipped my rifle back to them with some test rounds in Sept. and just got it back a few days ago, haven't had a chance to shoot it yet but will next week. I have 5 boxes of factory ammo, S&B from which to get brass and lots of 8mm bullets to shoot. Rifle is a real slick feeder and shot well as an 8x57 so should shoot well now too. The 8x64s shoots a .323 diameter bullet just like the 8x57s or JS. Power level is the same as an 8mm/06 and the round is basically the 7x64 necked up to 8mm. I love the metrics! Here is a couple pix.

Had a couple 8 X 57 rifles I sold off a while back... had some PRVI ammo that had that strange stepped bullet...
Do you more about those???

Bullet is an S&B they call the Soft Point Cutting Edge, SPCE. Cuts nice holes on the target.

Sweet. I like the 8mm's. I shoot an 8x54KJ, 8x57, 8x60S, 8mm-06, and 8x68S. The Zastava is a very functional rifle and strong action. My 9,3x64 is built on one.

Cutting edge is designed to cut hair on impact, thus allowing easier location of animal when shot, a great idea that does not seem to carry over from Europe. Many times I’ve struggled with hunters to identify the standing location of the animal they shot, so a starting point could be located for the search. Often times blood is not found for 25-50 yards from initial impact site.

I had this to the range last week and will again tomorrow. Sighted it in with a box of S&B 196 gr factory loads. Once it was zeroed at 100 I just shot the rest of the box up for brass as that is the hardest thing to find. The ammo is available, but not brass. Its going to be a shooter as with this load it just wanted to drop them into the X ring shot after shot unless I messed up which happens occasionally, LOL. Will try a 200 gr Speer load of mine tomorrow. Looks like a worthwhile project.
