HadesMN.... photos show progression of rounding backstrap shoulder to fit my hand. A squared shoulder impacts base of my thumb on recoil with heavy loads. Stock removal is so much easier on brass and aluminum than steel. I wanted brass on the Ruger 03 to test my aversion to the combination. Turns out I love it. Had to see brass-on-stainless to discover its aesthetic.
Shooting an old model Super Blackhawk with brass grip frame back in the early days of silhouette (1977), I found that the grip frame screws hold tight much longer than a steel grip frame. When I told Ronnie about that, he agreed, and said aluminum also holds screws tight, longer.
To repeat my first caution on fitting a grip frame, all my sanding, fitting, finishing is done with with grip frame OFF revolver! David Bradshaw
