Rossi 45 Colt 24" barrel. Added a Turnbull Model 92 red dot mount. This rifle killed 2 whitetail deer shortly after it was assembled. My regular load has put 3 shots into 2" at 100 yds with a Holosun red dot. So if a red dot is a possibility, well Doug Turnbull has the answer.

I went down this road years ago and could not for the life of me find a 45 Colt levergun in any flavor anywhere. Then a guy told me about the Rossi 454. I happened to be in my local Walmart a few days later and loe and behold they had a stainless 454 with hivis sites sitting there. I bought it and have tweaked/smoothed up the action using some of Steves Guns techniques. I say all that to say that if you come across a deal on a 454 don't pass it up! I've shot low pressure 45 colt loads on up to heavy 454 in mine. Great little gun.

I had this 20", octagon barreled Rossi in 45 Colt. Bought it from a friend and sold it to a forum member who was looking hard for one. It was an excellent shooter, no issues with long OAL cartridges that we both ran through it. I kinda wish I'd kept it. Tim

It is simple to mount an optic on Winchester 94 AE rifles. AE = Angle Eject. Before the panic-demic, we scored his-and-hers pre-owned 94AE Trappers, locally, both .45 Colt, each costing less than $1K. The AE Winchesters seem to be less-collectible, so asking prices, at least before the panic-demic, were relatively low.

I bought one a few years ago. Mikoru Winchester 1892 in 45 colt. Very well made and accurate. Actually I was impressed by it. I do dislike the rebounding hammer and tang safety but it kinda goes away as you just forget about it.

I have both 16 and 20 " rossi's in .45 , they are newer guns both made within the last year. Very accurate guns with smooth actions. These newer ones are very easy to mount a scope as they are drilled and tapped from the factory for a rail . If you remove the rear sight, you can easily install a rail and use a long eye relief scope or optic if you want .

You fellahs with Rossi's, do you have 16" or 20" models? Multiple of both. The 20" sight radius is nice if you're going for open sights.

Late to reply but here goes. For heavy duty loads, the 92 is the way to go but for scope mounting the Marlin is the ticket. Don't know about the Henry's optics options. Rossi scout scope mounts are available from several vendors.
I've had a few Winnies and the options for a 94 are a rear peep and a tang sight for the 92 with out a trip to a smiff that can drill and tap to add a scout scope mount.
The 92 Winnie safety is a tang while the post lawyer intervention 94s are on the receiver. The inertia hammer delete is a practical conversion that removes one leg off of the hammer strut and clips 4 coils off the hammer spring which reduces cooking effort and maintains reliability with CCI 350s.
There is info out there on slicking all three up as they're alittle oversprung and sticky from the mothership. You don't need to run them angry.

I found a Winchester locally for too much but I want the 45 lever. I am going back Monday to pick it up. The NICS didn't go through fast enough to walk out the door with it on Friday. I have been looking for a few months and It was the only one available in my area. I don’t do internet sites like gunbroker. I got hosed for over 3k many years ago on an online purchase of a computer, so I don’t trust them. If anyone in here has one and you're in Pa, I would rather do that. If not, Ill bring home the Winnie and post pics tomorrow.

I have a question about receiver strength on Winchester Model 92’s and 94’s in 45 Colt. I had a Rossi 92 - mentioned it earlier in this thread. I was comfortable with “Ruger Only” loads in it. I still have a Winchester, recent build, in 45 Colt. How does it compare strength-wise to the ‘92? Thanks Tim
