Bead blast SS finish. I have another that has bead blast along the top of the barrel rib, frame & rear sight channel.

I took a birdshead gripped Vaquero and converted it to Bisley as well, redid the rear sight trough with a better idea and had a ramped FO placed on it. It became the inspiration for my avatar gun 500L, I took the stainless and polished it to look nickel and have never had any issue with it spooking game. It’s first game was a bobcat at 25-30 yards, barrel length is 3.5” - 3.75” can’t recall exactly. It shoots 265gr. Speer JHP to 3” at 50 easily. It is one of my favorite carry guns for the ranch. Trapr You have piqued my curiosity. How did you improve the trough? What front sight base did you have installed? Did you have the chambers (throats) reamed / ground to uniform dimensions? Did you alter the forcing cone? I know a lot of questions, but I would appreciate some fresh ideas.

JM, that is just too sexy!!! Thanks. That's an SK & Dave Clements special. That was before the SS Bisley Blackhawk became available.

NICE!! I am not worried about the finish spooking game, I am concerned with being able to have a crisp sight picture with the bright sun (that God has seemed to bless S. Texas with freaking constantly). I can't seem to find a picture of it at the moment, but I recall seeing a Vaquero rear sight that had been Cerakoted. The notch had been shaped/widened and the divot and rear sight face blackened with Cerakote. Also, as far as overall finish goes, someone here posted a little kitchen table refinish on a short barreled Ruger a while back where they took the standard glossy-glare stainless down to 600 grit. It was sublime.

I’ve also done a field-expedient version with the proper application of masking tape, a fine paint brush, scotchbrite pad, and spray-on bedliner

The rear sight was improved by dovetailing a rear sight into it, small and unobtrusive.......I also have filed a sharp clean edge to the top of the trough, it helps tremendously. A pic is in the Bear Spray thread. The chambers were reamed to .4525 as I had one that would consistently throw a round from the others, The front sight base was a standard Ruger that I recontoured with files to my liking, and then filed a dovetail to accept a FO. No forcing cone work, and barrel/cylinder gap was pretty good at .003
PM sent,.......Trapr

I have the same sights as Squawberryman on my Vaquero. Mine has a vertical gold bar in the front sight.

I cannot thank all of you enough for the pictures and the suggestions. I mean you guys are the tops! Thank you for including who did the work, the raw purchased product names and how they were done. The pictures are WONDERFUL! I hope to learn one day how to post a picture on this site.
tdbarton, how do you think he did that rear notch? I know trade secrets and all, and I am NO machinist, but how does one go from a radiused notch to a squared, I dont know "shoulder" or whatever you call the flat of the rear sight.. But it is SLICK work and super clean!
I guess all there is for me to do now is to buy 150,000 in CNC machinery and start working on revolvers! LOL! NEVER gonna happen! LOL!

Endmill or square file and a deft hand. Keep in mind the picture I posted is a Freedom Arms, not a Ruger.
