Got my parts from Fermin today! He made me an excellent copy of the original front site for my old model single six, and a "new" EJR, rod and spring he had. Tomorrow it'll be off to John Powers for completion, and I'll finally have my "kit gun" I always wanted this revolver to be. Can't wait! By the way, he has a pretty good package for anyone wanting a #5 on an old model flat top. I'd love to have it, but have to finish this project first. There's a good 44 barrel already installed, and Clements parts galore! Only thing needed is the cylinder to be bored and it would be one sweet revolver. Give him a call, he can set you right up!

Single Six went off to John Powers this morning, hopefully he can un-bubba the thing and get me a sweet little chopped and channeled Single Six! Can't wait for it to come back, I'll see can I figure out pics to post when I get it back.

Oh Lord! Don't I know it! I haven't even asked Mr. Powers for an estimate, I'm holding my breath! Funny you mention holsters. I watched a video on Gun Blast before Jeff died when he did a review on a Ruger, 32 I think? Anyway he mentioned a Barranti holster but not which model. I emailed Barranti and asked if they knew which one Jeff used and Doc himself emailed me back and said it was the Northwest Mountain Companion. I figured that was the one but he confirmed it. Probably going with that one, but I like Simply Rugged stuff too. Since I retired and got this little Ruger, a whole new world has opened up to me. I've mostly dealt with service weapons my whole life and never really had time for recreational stuff. My Lord there are some beautiful revolvers here! I'll probably never be able to build a custom one, but if I could find a nice one (affordable) I could do little stuff here and there. Oh and I have thought about grips, even thought about doing a Birdshead conversion since it's mainly patient filing and sanding, but no final decisions yet....

It all starts with a little patient filing and sanding. Just ask John Linebaugh.

You know, I thought I was taking my time, being super careful, measure, measure, measure. Still screwed up. My Bastard File Degree from the Wile E. Coyote School of Gunsmithing and Catapults could not pull off what I wanted. Oh well. Mr. Powers will no doubt fix me up. Now, if I do decide to do a Birdshead swap, I will move slower then a Wallaby in a eucalyptus tree. I am keeping my fingers crossed on a flat top 44 special I found, that the guy is offering me a pretty sweet deal on, with financing no less, and I SWEAR I will not touch it. It will go off to a pro for any and everything I do to it. The Single Six? I got 50 bucks in that gun, literally, so I was more then willing to try my hand at the mods. I mean, I've built a dozen ARs, how hard can it be? Yeah.....

To help you spend more of your money... Kral (user name) Kim Ralston makes a very nice fixed blade knife. Doc Barranti makes his sheaths. It would be sweet to have your knife sheath match your holster. And, your Single Six grips match the handle scales. Just thought I'd toss it out there. Didn't want you to find out after and say, "if I had only known about that". Doesn't need to be done all at once. singleactions.proboards.com/thread/27886/got-package-kral-today

Ok so I mail the Wile E. Coyote Single Six to Mr Powers, and it gets delivered on like last tuesday I think? Anyway, I wait until this morning and shoot him an email and just confirm that he did in fact receive it? I figure it's gonna be like six-eight weeks before he even gets to it. NO! He answers right way and says he was almost finished with it! Said he had to replace the ERH I sent, that it wouldn't work so he fitted a steel one, and re-blued everything! Said he should have it ready to send back next week. Man that was fast!! If I can figure out pictures I'll post a couple....

Apparently not! I am a little nervous about what I owe him, but if it turns out as nice as some of the stuff on his website, I'll be very happy!

GASP! Mr Powers emailed me today to inform me the Wile E. Coyote Single Six is finished!! I winced a little at the bill, not the he is not worth it or doesn't deserve it, I just wasn't wanting to put that much into a 50 dollar gun. BUT, I do love those little fixed sight Rugers, and am very fond of this one, so full payment sent! Can't wait to see it, and will post pics here when I get it. Now, the question is do I start saving up for a bird grip....

It's not a $50 gun anymore. Now it's an heirloom to be passed down.
