Kidney stones ran me out of the woods Saturday. I realized I left my safety strap at the stand. I felt so bad I wasn't sure I could drive when I got down. I was driving to the stand to get it when a deer stepped out on top of the bluff. I got my binos up and it was a 140+" buck I named Marv. Unable to do anything about it but watch he passed within 10 yards of the stand I had just left. I laid up all day and gave birth later to these: Matt and I went yesterday and I passed on a buck that probably scores 120. A bunch of does came out and I shot this one. She is actually bigger than she looks in the pic. Probably 4 years old. Shot her at 149 yards with the .260 and 140gr Partition.

260 Remington, right? What kind of velocity do you get with that round ou of the Encore? Do you zero it at 100 yards? What is the bullet drop and effective range of the round?
Very cool stuff!

Nice shooting!
I put together a 260 Encore a few months and you’ve got me wanting to take it out for some exercise. I think I loaded up 120 Ballistic Tips for mine.
Sorry to hear about the stones. One of the worst pains out there. Kudos on getting out there and making it happen despite everything.

I am shooting the 140grs at 2400fps. Not max but enough and superb accuracy. yards energy 100 +2.44 1583ftlbs 150 -2.13 1476ftlbs 200 -0- 1375ftlbs 250 -4.09 1279ftlbs 300 -10.31 1189ftlbs If I want to shoot farther I will switch loads but for my current set up this is perfect. Bullet performance is perfect as always from the 140gr Partition. This load is shooting under 1/2" at 100 yards. Basically surgical hunting accuracy.

The 6.5JDJ has killed alot of game from the Contender throughout the years. Given you are getting more velocity from the 260 has got me tempted to get back into the single shot game. Congratulations on your success.

Going to a 120 to 130 Boat tail lets me get over 2700fps. Using the 129 AB Long range with its High BC this little jewel can easily make 500 yard shots with over 1100ftlbs when it arrives. Pretty neat package.

I have kidney stones occasionally and I have a 260 Encore. You did great and it is an impressive handgun.
