Opinions please, He advised around 250 rounds through the gun, it looks like it is in good shape. The price is $700.00, should I pass?

I'd save $200 and buy a Rock Island, brand new.

I have a Range Officer. It's my favorite 1911. It eats anything and shoots tight groups.
In regards to choosing a RIA instead, I had one. It was very picky about ammo, but decently accurate. Still, I sold mine. The extra $$$ for the Range Officer is worth it. I always try to bargain. But the specifics of the deal are up to you.

I’ve shot a couple ROs, they are nice pistols for the money.

My experience with Springfield 1911s is limited to full size .45s but I'm happy enough with them to have a 9mm Champion (4") Range Officer on several of my watch lists. If my hands still liked smaller .45s I'd have no problem picking that one up if it's in great shape.
I've owned a number of RIAs over the years (and still have a full size, full rail .45) but if I'm offered the choice between a RIA and SA that meets my wants/needs, the SA is worth the price difference IMO.

I bought my officer's model Rock Island fully expecting ammo feed/extract problems due as much to the smaller slide and truncated grip as to the RIA itself. I had heard they got better in the last few years and were now a very good bargain. Mine is almost as accurate as my Sig P-220, and easier to shoot. It eats like a hostage, and if I keep my delinquent digits out of the innards, is 100% reliable. I now have a full size as well that is also making me a believer.

Buy it mine is accurate even with steel cased ammo and the when they came out the reviews were very good on the basically a entry level competition gun.

BUY THE RANGE OFFICER. I paid essentially the same price ($650 plus 8.25% sales tax = $703) from my LGS. (In my area, I’d consider $650-$700 a good price.) My Springfield shoots well, functions 100% reliably -and I love how well I shoot with it. I attribute this particularly to the target sights along with the tight barrel-to-bushing fit. I own or have owned Colt, STI, and Kimber 1911s, as well. IMHO, the RO is a good value. I don’t plan on selling it any time soon. Springfield “Range Officer” w/Case & Accessories-Bill

Buy the Springfield. It's a very fair deal.
Look closer 101 airborne,, that safety lever has a cut out on the backside. It'll clear the grip.

Might be the lighting in the photo or my mind isn't picking up on it. Either way, it is a beautiful setup!

I was not able to buy the Range Officer, at the time I was in Dallas for training and not able to travel where the seller was. After I came home a friend sold me a SS Springfield 1911-A1 45acp. I have enjoyed it very much. Looking for a bullet mold, I am looking at the MP 453-490. Anyone have any experience with this bullet in the 45acp.
