Is going to start collecting sales tax as of 01/01/21.
Most probably got the email...
This bites...just aother good reason to try to make deals offline and people will.
Gunbroker to date hasn't monitored PMs between sellers and buyers the way Ebay does but I bet that will change. They have the capability.
Afterall..
Ebay owns Gunbroker.

AND a transfer fee once it arrives...
Easily over $100 after the sticker price.

The auction houses are doing this as well on top of 15 to 20 percent buyers premium. if you bid through proxybid and use a credit card you can be looking at 33 percent above the hammer price. It pays to read the fine print!

Well rain on that! Thanks for the heads up. Yeah, auction price plus sales tax, shipping, CC fees then a transfer fee? Where is the upside anymore?

Taxes, fees, shipping firearms, I'll be really surprised if not in a few years the cost of all that will equal the cost of the gun itself. Then add the cost of ammo and the taxes/fees that are surely coming......the winds of change are blowing.

How does one collect sales tax on an item they're not selling? That's a good question.... My guess is that they'll charge the seller in addition to their regular fees. From Gunbroker... "As a Seller: GunBroker.com will calculate the tax due on each of your orders. This tax calculation will be based on the Ship To address on the order. The calculation will include tax for the item plus any additional taxes for things such as shipping or handling. When the buyer completes checkout, you will receive the appropriate tax amount as part of payment for the order. Make sure you and your buyers use the GunBroker.com order checkout process to complete the purchase so sales tax is handled properly. Be sure to collect the sales tax since you will be responsible for paying the sales tax amount to GunBroker.com for remittance to the state agencies. GunBroker.com will capture and record the sales tax related to each order. You will then remit that sales tax to GunBroker.com in the same manner as your monthly fees. These amounts will be periodically billed and collected via your payment method on file. GunBroker.com will remit the amounts collected to each state as the marketplace facilitator. GunBroker.com plans to provide the ability for you to download your sales tax information as part of this process. The download will contain information about the order, ship to destination (used for tax calculation) and the tax amount. GunBroker.com fees will continue to be charged on the sale price of the item. The collection of state sales tax will not change your GunBroker.com fees." All of it here: support.gunbroker.com/hc/en-us/articles/1260800233069?trk_msg=41MUV360IEJ4F2CEHQ2D2UAABK&trk_contact=EPDN2TEIOMP2AV51JC7SF1A6F8&trk_sid=MD6C41CTGIPO03GU1IGASODLAS&utm_source=Listrak&utm_medium=Email&utm_term=Marketplace+Facilitator+Sales+Tax&utm_campaign=Site+Updates&utm_content=Site+Updates+-+Internet+Sales+Tax+Processing

How does one collect sales tax on an item they're not selling? That's a good question.... My guess is that they'll charge the seller in addition to their regular fees. I read the question as "How are they legally allowed to collect sales tax?" We all know that the courts have come down on the side of states collecting sales tax for online merchants, but sales between individuals (i.e. non-businesses) aren't usually subject to tax. The notable exception is car sales, but the state collects that when you REGISTER your new vehicle. How is this going to work with the online gun sellers that already collect sales tax? There are a few. I had a point, I think, but what it was is anybody's guess.

Time for the Single Actions rotating gun program! I know I’ve been doing my part to spread stuff around to some of you guys lately. I can’t think of a custom I could want that one of you don’t already have! Even if it means getting one of my former guns back!😀
Kind of glad Oregon has no sales tax about now but since I’m not shopping it is a moot point I guess.

What business is it of theirs? I have a tax account for collecting sales tax, should I contact Gunbroker and tell them I need to collect sales tax from them on any seller fees they collect from customers in my state? (what business is it of mine?)
