Between the pandemic and the political environment, it's been a little crazy. I have cut out shooting just to be shooting because of the difficulty in replacement. The ammo extortionist will never get my money. For the few factory loads I buy, I will stick with Midway, Cabelas and the like that are not gouging shooters. I see deer hunters on forums everywhere that didn't plan ahead like the hoarders here do. They can't get a box of hunting ammo now for less than 3 times retail. If you find a good deal on a lot of ammo, it's easier to get a gun chambered for it. I know it's all market driven and bully for capitalism, but we all have choices. Run a search on AmmoSeek for your favorite factory load and if it is available, you can see the ammo houses that are gouging. Reloading components are just about in the same boat. I am somewhere between a prepper and a hoarder when it comes to ammo and components, so I have plenty. If you weren't prepared for this, I wish you luck finding what you need. I look forward to the time when items for guys like us are readily available. On another note, if you live near an ammo or component manufacturer and you are seeking work, they should be hiring.

Been shooting more .22LR
Federal sells factory direct off their web-site. Be ready to pounce when whatever you're looking for becomes available.
Sometimes Natchez has inventory.
Saw 2 boxes of 308 ammo for $45 each a couple weeks ago.

MY BIGGEST WORRY IS PRIMERS SMALL PISTOL PRIMERS. I AM OK ON BULLETS, BRASS & POWDER FOR MOST OF MY CF REVOLVER SHOOTING, WHICH, WITH SOME 22lr SINGLE SIX SHOOTING, IS 98 + % OF ALL OF MY SHOOTING. BUT I "FEEL" LIKE I AM LESS WILLING TO SHOOT CF THAN BEFORE. WHAT WILL ALSO HELP ME CONSERVE AMMO (AND COMPONENTS) IS THAT DURING OUR LONG TEXAS DEER SEASON I ALWAYS SHOOT LESS.

Talk about supply and demand, have you seen what people are BIDDING on gunbroker for spp? I'm not talking about just asking, but running up bids to $200 and higher for a thousand primers! I'd be hard pressed to pay $75 for them and am completely out of loose primers in sp. 250 spm left and maybe 1500 lp and lpm left.

Last night i was looking at Ammo Prices (i do not need any) . I seen six boxes of 9mm asking $100 a box the sad part is it was mostly dealers selling firearms and ammo . I will remember them later .

I'm sort of torn here. I have seen shops gouging some for powder of late, powder that was $28-32 a pound is listed at $35-45, sucks but I can deal with $10. A shop of gun show troll asking $200 for a pound of powder of 1000 primers is an ass. However if that same guy lists his 1000 primers on Gunbroker and fools run the bid up to $300 and someone actually pays it (I don't know all of these high bids ever actually get funded) then so be it a fool and their money get parted. One is a person taking advantage of the situation and one is 2 or more fools asking to be taken advantage of.
Of course this person also isn't probably putting those primers out on the shelf while the auction is on so there is that...

I bought 400 rounds of Win. 5.56, 62 gr. about a month ago for $248 shipped from an online dealer. That was the maximum allowed. They no longer have any. A week after I ordered it I got a notification from Cheaper Than Dirt for the same ammo for $400 for 200 rounds. CTD still has some in stock.

I have never been a fan of Cheaper Than Dirt, they will certainly take advantage of their robust buying power to hoard and gouge when they can. They have 9mm and 223 right now and for the prices they are listing they can keep them too. Oh and that mentality of gouging will keep me away from ever being a customer of theirs...

Went to local gun shop over weekend. Shelves still pretty bare of ammo and guns. They did have a good supply of .224 valkyrie and premium .460. It hit me that the .460 ammo wasn't actually that much higher cost than some of the 9mm & .45 you see online.

Went to my local gun store here in town to transfer a gun I had sold. The buyer asked about small pistol primers. They are out and on backorder. What he explained about the high price is that his supplier who he buys in bulk like a pallet load at a time is charging last years retail for his wholesale price. So sometimes it's not the actual dealer but their supplier gouging.

My LGS had 10 boxes of 460 S&W on the shelf (Hornady). Said it was their slowest moving cartridge. Owner gave me a deal on all of it, $24/box

For a specialty cartridge like 460 S&W (assuming 20 round boxes) that aint a bad price! About 6 months ago I bought 500 rounds of 10mm FMJ from Academy here for 25 bucks / 50 round box. The very next day, the ammo shelves were bare. Personally I dont think they sold it, I think they pulled it and stored it in the back.
Having lived through several of these "droughts", I have a well supplied stash. I cannot believe what primers are going for on Gunbroker. My buddy asked why I dont sell some and make some money. It is because I cant sleep at night knowing what I had done, even with the buyers setting the price. I would rather give some here and there to my friends than make money off of someone elses misery. I just gave my neighbor 500 5.56 cases and 500 small rifle primers for his AR.

If anyone finds 224 Valkyrie 90 grain Fusion ammo at a decent price I would like to order a few boxes.
