I'm getting started on a project with Lance Street building a .500 Linebaugh Ruger Number 1.
Lance will be using John's .500 linebaugh reamer that allows for a overall cartridge length of the .500 max so I can use the standard case and crimp the bullets out long.
I've read through the .500 max threads.... any advice on 500 grain bullets to start out with?
I think the cartridge performance 525 has a dual crimp groove. That may be where I start.

The MBW 530gr. Has dual crimp grooves as well, at least the ones I have are.

Will that cartridge use a .501 or .511 diameter cast bullet?

Will that cartridge use a .501 or .511 diameter cast bullet? I believe he is referring to the Montana Bullet Works 530 grain offering.

No picture or description of this bullet on their web page. www.grizzlycartridge.com/shop/cast-performance-bullets/511-525gr-wfngc-511-dia-50-count/Would it be possible to provide some detail on your build? Haven't heard of Lance Street but the idea of a 500 S&W Ruger No. 1 has intrigued me. Does he have a website?

Airborne, since he referenced the 500 Linebaugh assumed it would be .511.

I attended John’s big bore shoot in 2019 and had a chance to shoot his personal .500 Linebaugh .510 Ruger number one.
The bullet he used was loaded long to .500 max length in the standard case. I asked him it he’d make another and he said that he doesn’t make them any more, but recommended Lance Street also of Cody.
My impression at the time was that Lance helps out with some of John’s work load. Lance is just getting his shop up and running so he doesn’t have a website. I can ask if he’s ok with me sharing his contact info here.

I was hoping that Lee might chime in here with any updates on his old post. It seems like the 44-45 grain load of AA1680 (if available) may be at home in the Ruger #1 Rifle. "I tried 40.0 of AA1680 with the 525 last weekend just to see what it would do over the chronograph (only fired 5 of these). They averaged 1,370 fps whereas my 38.0 gr load went 1,325. Pressure with the 40.0 pour is likely 40,000 PSI. I also dabbled with compressed charges but only at the reloading bench. You can seat the bullet with 44 - 45 grains of AA1680 but it's heavily compressed. It's pretty much a proof load and can probably hit 1,500 fps. I don't recommend shooting it however. Pressure would be at or north of 50K." -Lee www.singleactions.com"Building carpal tunnel one round at a time" ~Jason

The .500 Linebaugh Ruger Number 1 showed up in the mail from Lance yesterday. Very impressed with the fit and finish.
Not sure how to post pictures here?
Hopefully I'll have a range report this weekend.

A No.1 International in 500 Linebaugh has always been my dream No. 1. I don't know how I missed this thread originally and I don't know that it's a good thing I saw it now.

Now just spit balling an idea here but for the cost of the conversion couldn’t you do the same in a 50 Alaskan and have way more top end of you chose to go there? Same diameter bullet just way more case capacity behind it. Certainly could “down load” the Alaskan to 500 Linebaugh levels easy enough but you can’t go the other way...
If the 50 Alaskan fits in a No 1 action I can’t say, I don't recall ever seeing this conversion done but I have seen No 1 in some pretty wild chamberings.
That said it would be a fun gun to play, it would be a real thumper.
