Taurus Tracker 44 Magnum. It would last about 75 full power rounds before going out of time. I just kept sending it back till the first time I fired it without ear protection (ported barrel). Actually liked that revolver till then. Charter Arms Bulldog 44 special (alloy frame). I shot it enough the cylinder finally failed and blew the top strap of the frame. Great packing pistol but should have lasted more than 500 rounds before catastrophic failure. And no, I dont load 44 special hot; I own 5 44 magnums.

Just thought of another. A Sig 938 with a horrible trigger. Sig rep said probably in spec. I debated sending anyway; but decided to get galloway precision crusader trigger and spring upgrade instead. Made all the difference one could ask. Went from horrible to good. Went from one i wouldn't carry to my second most often carried.

Since this Thread has spread away from handguns , I will add another. In my younger years, i was quite good at shooting a hunting rifle of a bench at 100 yards. And I would sell anything i could not get to shoot MOA. I got a really good deal on a pre 64 Featherweight 270. I could get 2 inches, at best. I sent it to pac nor spent hundreds on a new barrel. Very little improvement, put it in an expensive synthetic stock, still Crap. Sold it, and by then it was not a good deal anymore. I used to to get 1.25 inches from a marlin 45/70 , And i had a Model 70 Classic in 7mm STW that for 3 shot was incredible, It was a 160 grain Accubond at 3200 fps more or less and i put 3 into .17 at 100, and .35 was very common. A rich guy gave me a 1899 Vintage 30/30 SRC, and 400.00 cash for it. At the range, Hell it was just a stock model 70 classic. point being i could shoot, it was the 270 , not me...

You could shoot a 7 STW off a bench??!! I cant stand to shoot my 7 Rem Mag off a bench more than 2 rounds! I know recoil is subjective to the individual though.

ANGLE of buttplate/recoil pad----if wrong, causes comb to jump into face (all the while preventing groups). Bench shooting amplifies poor fit. David Bradshaw

1.) FA 97 44 Special - bloodied my hands every time I shot it with anything more than 8.0g of Power Pistol. I’ll add that the build quality and accuracy was exactly what you’d expect from FA - stellar! (FA 83s are my favorite guns of all time). 2.) Henry Big Boy 44 Magnum - first shot was always a flyer. I mean off the paper sometimes and into la la land at 50 yards. Next 4 were almost always touching at 50 yards, go figure. First one counts the most. Sold. 3.) Remington VSSF .204 - I foolishly sold my first VSSF in .223. Best factory rifle I’ve ever owned. The .204 couldn’t hit the broadside of a bulldozer (okay, that’s a bit of an exaggeration). But it also wouldn’t stabilize any bullet over 35 grains. I told Remington C/S I bought the gun to shoot targets the size of Pepsi bottles at 300 yards. They said 3-4+” groups at 100 yards met their standards. Last Remington I ever purchased. 4.) Savage 110 SS 350 Legend - every 3rd or 4th shot the bolt froze shut. I had to beat the hell out of it to open it. I got through one box of ammo and returned the gun. The Ruger AR-556 350 Legend that replaced it is awesome. 5.) Ruger Mark III Target - ridiculously inaccurate. To be fair, it was used and it’s hard telling what might have happened to it. The good news is I sent it to Volquartsen and completely overhauled it. It will easily shoot 5 shots at 25 yards into one tiny hole that is no bigger than 1/4”. It’s my daughter’s favorite pistol now.

I wasn't poking at tj, not by any means. I had the "pleasure" of firing a 7 STW off a bench once. The rifle and I did not get along to say the least. To me it was like firing my 375 H&H off the bench. I did that ONCE. I have a 338-06 TC Contender rifle I shoot paper patched cast through. It is a fantastic 200 yard pork slayer. I have often wanted to have a Mauser converted to 8mm-06. I think that would be one of the neater calibers to own.

1st gen S&W Model 59. Gorgeous gun, well fitted and perfectly functioning provided you never intended to actually hit anything with it. Fifteen yards and I could not hit a 4x8 piece of plywood. I also had a very early 59. I was looking at the new Wonder-Nine and Browning Hipower. The gunshop owner talked me into the Smith. It had all of the bells and whistles, double action, bigger magazine, aluminum frame, and "adjustable" sights. I was fortunately able to trade it off. That is one gun I didn't regret getting rid of. It took me a long time to ever look at another double action pistol. I got an education. Shoulda bought the Browning.

A first generation gp100. Throats oversized on two chambers, bad undersized on the rest. They must have changed the reamer in the middle of making the cylinder! Thread constriction in a ruff barrel that had chatter marks. Shotgun groups with everything. Leonard Baity turned it into the sweetest 41 mag I ever had, even if the hump on the grip first generation had wasn't recoil friendly. Never should have sold it!!!

Glock 21 SF. Most ungainly handgun I ever owned, miserable accuracy and I guess I got the only one ever made that had function issues? Broke me from Glocks.
HK 22 mag rifle. Very lackluster. I liked the 93 though.
One (1) 10-22 in stainless, kept rupturing cases and leaded the barrel all the way to the muzzle.
SKS...Norinco POS, wildly inaccurate.
Moisin Nagant...another POS, 30" groups at 100?? Dang.

I had a Glock 23 many years ago that would not feed handloads consistently. And I forgot another bad one, I bought a 4th model Colt Detective Special, brand new ,years ago at a gun show got it to my car and could not get a factory round in one of the chambers. Took it back in, and the guy who sold it to me did not believe me, i handed him 6 rounds from my pocket and said take it to the bathroom. He came back shaking his head. He had another under the table and swapped me out . ...tj

A Biotto , Brazil made over/under 20 gauge. I just had to have an O/U 20 ga.. The longer I had it, the more it's excessive weight and poor almost everything bugged me. It was replaced by a nice little Beretta O/U 20ga.. That ended up being sold to fund one of the 480's here now.
