You know I have gone back and looked at this post a few times and we need more details. Ground blind? Tree stand? Still hunting? Inquiring minds want to know!

You know I have gone back and looked at this post a few times and we need more details. Ground blind? Tree stand? Still hunting? Inquiring minds want to know! Still hunting sitting by a large snow covered boulder. I received about a foot of snow on the mountain (I live on the backside of a mountain) but it hard-froze overnight. It was too crunchy to spot and stalk. There was a pretty good wind blowing some light sideways snow (22*, cold & miserable of course, it's hunting). There is an area of wild apple trees (Lots of wild apple trees in this area of Idaho) with a trail intersection about 300 yards from my house. This buck came in early chasing off the other deer to gorge himself. I was actually after a 5X3 whitetail that had a huge body. This guy appeared. He was new to the area since I have never seen him before and my array of game cams never picked him up. While this area is generally steep, the shot was only about 30 degrees downhill. I rested from my haggard old Stoney Point shooting sticks (they don't make that model anymore). I could tell that he winded me but he was briefly distracted watching a smaller buck eating 'his' frozen apples and apple leaves on top of the snow. The load was Buffalo Bore, 6" barrel. The bullet took the left lung and the bottom of the right. It exited just above the right front knee(?). I think the bullet is still going. He piled up immediately, stood back up and then collapsed. Typical with me hunting, I look back, never felt the recoil nor heard the report. I don't even remember re-cocking the gun for a follow up shot that wasn't needed. You can see the bullet entrance in the pic. I shoot routinely at 80 yards so I was comfortable with the shot. The pic at the bottom shows the same slope a few weeks earlier with my spike elk. North Central Idaho, Elk City - Took a nice whitetail this morning with my Freedom Arms 83 .475 LB topped with a 1 MOA RMR. A single 420 grn @1350 fps @ 80 yds ( not 89) double lung. He dropped like a sack of 'taters. White tail Buck Nov 2020 by Brian RENOEdited: For the life of me I cannot figure out how to post pics. Awesome. I am quite envious.
