I called Ben earlier today to see how he was feeling. Last time I talked to him he had tweaked a shoulder/ elbow or bicep pretty good and was still seeing what he could do or needed done to fix it.

That looks great! You will have to give us a range report also. Whats the cylinder length?

I have to dig out my dial calipers to give a length, which are buried in a box somewhere from clearing my loading space for the recent HVAC project work in the utility room.
The base gun was a .357 Blackhawk Bisley Model.
I sent Ben a Super Blackhawk 44 Mag cylinder which he line bored, chambered in 45 Colt and fitted to the frame, set proper end shake.
Free Spin Pawl fitted.
He installed a straight taper 5.5" 45 Colt barrel and installed custom front sight. Tossed the original ejector rod housing and installed a steel replacement.
Fitted a #5 Belt Mountain base pin
Installed the new Bowen rear sight that I sent, and opened the width of the sight blade opening making it easier for my eyes to pick up the front sight.
Action job, Trigger pull set at 3 lbs
Removed original caliber markings and remarked as pictured.
Decked the grip frame.
Stayed with original stocks as I have not determined exactly what custom ones I want on it.
IT IS A SMOOTH AND WELL FITTED PIECE.
My Freedom Arms 83 (454 Casull) is jealous!

Forkin does excellent work, you have to be patient to get a gun out of the man but his guns really are top notch and worth the wait...

I used to own a 5 shot banded barrel 45 Ben built then about 8 months ago he mentioned he didn’t own any of his own guns so I sent it back to him. We were talking the other day and mentioned he missed out on the USFA guns other than working on them for others. I happen to own one he had did an action job in and that wore musk oxen grips by Roy Fishpaw so we swapped the USFA gun for the 5 shot 45 and it came back to Oregon once again. Definitely looks like the gun shown above other than barrel treatment. Simple understated elegance in my opinion. Ironically I had another set of Roy’s Dall sheep bisley grips which slid right on the 5 shot😊

So many ways to to get the "twin" to the 45 Custom but in 44 MAg.
MAYBE Santa knows someone who has the very thing I want already completed, who wants to part with it in order to replace it with something else they have been longing for like a 475 or such.
Then I sell the NM SBH for what I can get to recoup funds (or include it AND/OR my OM 44 SBH [that JRH tweaked a bit for me] as part of the payment for the suddenly appearing completed dream).
My mind is whirling with all the potential scenarios.
Dear Santa.......
