Another Forum member was asking about a .500 Linebaugh on an Alaskan and I realized I hadn't posted any pics of this one yet. Here's a Bowen built .500 Linebaugh on a Super Redhawk Alaskan. Barrel is a 5" re-bore from the late Jim Dubbel. This revolver only weighs 44.4oz as shown. Grips are by LSCG and are super sweet. Honestly, I haven't shot the gun yet with the wood grips on it. We'll see how that goes...

It shoots great, carrries well in my BackCountry leather chest rig. I’m running 485gr. PCHP’s from it a 990fps. This one will be staying here for a while, Greg did keep the grips so I had Zane make me a set of my own. They work well also.

Shortly after I got it from Bushy, I was giving some Natl Park Service guys some firearms training. My partner was handling the rifle/carbine portion and I pulled out the SRH. I had given them the handgun training the day before, and we covered long range pistol shooting accuracy. Which for them 50 yards was a loooong ways out there for a handgun. One of them asked how effective is a handgun for longer ranges. There was a steel bobcat target at the 225 yard mark, I held just a bit of front sight and let a 450gr fly, I saw the target sway just before the sound of the bullet strike was heard. I just put the gun away and walked off, offhand shot with no previous shots at that distance, it’s still one of my luckiest ever. But the gun will flat out shoot.

I believe it was Lee Trevino, when asked about a hole in one who said, "it wasnt luck. Ive been practicing that shot my whole life"! Well done!

And, about that 200 meter shot: it’s an excellent distance to observe the speed of sound. David Bradshaw

Holy crap, that's awesome! Don't know how I missed it. Been thinking hard about doing a Dan Wesson or Anaconda barrel conversion on an Alaskan.
