How do you fire it? Using what looks like a hammer at the back of the grips?

most of the Velo dogs had folding triggers Trigger is down in one of the pictures & the little loop at the bottom / front of the frame is the tip of the trigger in it's folded position... was looking for a picture of mine ( I kept one during the big sell off ) mine is nickle & in good shoot-able condition so I kept the 3-400 cartridges I bought after finding the gun... can't find a picture right now... Tinker is correct in that the cases often crack on the Fiocci velo-dog ammo... I think it's mostly due to big chambers, as I've fired several in my 22 CCM ( with tighter chambers ) & not cracked any in the handful fired in that that gun, while I cracked one in a cylinder full in my V-doggie

they take a little muscle to fire... guessing the longer trigger helps out in the leverage department

That’s a big trigger. I thought that may have been the trigger, but then I thought it was too big. The trigger is a bit long, but it's more that the gun is so small. I have now fired the gun. I made 7 rounds of home-made brass and loaded them with 29gr. RNL bullets over a charge of 1.6gr. of Universal, with a Federal Magnum Small Pistol primer. This gave an average of 430 fps. and 12 Ft./lbs of energy, with an extreme spread of 21 fps. I was aiming for a 'Gallery Load' so this is just about right. The original load pushed a 43gr. copper-jacketed round-nose bullet at 650-700fps. from these tiny guns, which was about what you'd expect from early 20thC. .22LR from a similar gun. Once I get some reloading dies I'll see about replicating the original loading. Firing at five yards produced a dinner-plate sized 'group,' but this was my fault. I was holding the gun wrong and just as the trigger released it would bump into my knuckle, which tended to through the shots off. I found that if I choked up on the handle a bit this no longer happened, but by then I was out of ammo. When I get more ammo set up I'll see what sort of accuracy can be managed.

I didn’t realize they were that small. That is really tiny.

Cylinders always look really long... because the cartridge is nearly identical in size to the 22 magnum, & the gun is so tiny

while looking for cases for the 22 CCM, I came across this website... everything you wanted to know about Velodog revolvers ( & other "mouse guns" )... pretty current ( most Velodog info is nearly as antique as the revolvers themselves )... lots of pictures... www.velodogs.com/
