Problems with R-P .45acp brass, as well. Prefer to use WW. Works fine with my Dillon carbide die set. .451 jacketed for Kart NM barreled S.80 Colt Gov't, & .452 cast for everything else.
When setting up my dies, I measure OAL of a handful pieces of brass, & select 4 - 5 of average length. Helps keep crimp consistent for the whole batch. Although it requires an extra step with my 550, I have found the Lyman M expander - properly adjusted for bare minimum "slip fit", to provide far better results (cast, plated, or jacketed) than the Dillon "powder through" expander.

Feeding issues in the 1911 can also be causing your problem. Although the slide has enough force to overcome the roadblocks in the feedway a smoother transition might help.
A different mag might also help you out also.

I too had Remington brass problems "back in the day"; stuff was too thin and seemed softer than other cases. It's hard to beat GI brass, which is harder to come by these days. All-time favorite was Gi NM brass that had no crimp; IMI is a close second. If you have a LE connection, you might give Federal HS nickel plated brass a try also; it's very good.
FWIW, I taper crimp .45ACP .452" cast bullets to .468", or just a bit tighter.
