Just received a couple boxes of Speer 250gr deep curl, and a box each of Swift 265gr and 300gr A-frame bullets.
I'm wanting to try these in my Ruger SBH.
The gun seems to love jacketed bullets over cast. I've tried cast bullets from 250gr to 350gr. I'm lucky if it would hit a truck hood at 75 yards with cast. But, it will put 300gr XTP's in a 4" group at 100 yards all day with a stiff load of IMR4227. I don't have a problem using the XTP's this season for deer, but have always been curious about the A-frame bullets, and thought I'd try the Deep curl while I was at it.
Anyone have a favorite load for these bullets? Not looking for a dinosaur killing load, but if that's what shoots best...
Thanks Justin

You probably need to get the chamber throats opened to .452" for cast bullets.
Ruger generally cuts them grossly undersized which definitely kills cast bullet accuracy.

Silcott, I opened mine up to 4525 for using cast bullets that are sized 452, that said, the A frames are awesome bullets. My 45’s shoot them very well, one uses the 300gr and my little Sheriff 45 colt uses the 265’s. They are nice for everything from medium game to large game, you should like them.
