I just read that as well. Still needs to be approved by the court but they are the top bidder for the Marlin Assets. I hope they do get it.

I'm hoping Remington firearms remains viable for the foreseeable future. For many reasons, not the least of which is my shotgun is Ilion currently for warranty work!

This was posted on another handgun forum, today. Apparently, Ruger has aquired Marlin for real. No more speculation, I guess.

Cash in hand for a 480 I'm curious... Can lever-guns handle 475 Linebaugh...? Or 414 SM, 445 SM...? Or is their action not strong enough...?

Rossi has one that shoots 454 Casull Big Horn Armory makes them in 460 & 500 S&W... guessing the current Marlins... no... but hard to say what a Ruger Marlin is capable of

The problem with a SuperMag cartridge (357,375,414,445) in a Marlin lever is that the action of the Model 1894 is too short and the 336/1895 action is too long for the shells to feed right. I have heard of people using extra long bullets in a 445 or 414 case in a modified 336 but why not just use a 444 Marlin to begin with. Also the pressures are limited to factory specs in both designs. The highest pressures I have heard of (factory) are the Model 336 guns that were chambered for the 375 and 356 Winchester shells. From memory they run close to 50,000cpi or there about.

I'm quite sure with a lifter cut from the factory, it would be a simple adaptation.

Pretty sure if Ruger Builds a Marlin for the 475 Caliber they'll stick with the 480 Ruger cartridge since it carries their name...
not that the rifle then, couldn't be custom chambered for the 475 Linebaugh... but I'd just guess if they build a 475 caliber, it'll be in 480 Ruger

This is about the beat news I have heard all year. Be cool to see what Ruger does with them. They could come out with some cool combos coupled with a Blackhawk.

I was wondering if it could then be bored out to 475 LB... And wouldn't a 30-30 length action be about perfect for the Supermags...?

A 480 or a 454 would be cool.
