Got a call from Bill Goodman that my .50-90 Business Rifle is in! Should be in my hands next week! Can’t wait, pics to follow

Very cool! I have one on order as well. Was thinking about it yesterday and honestly can’t remember what I ordered. I was thinking I should look it up and make sure I don’t want to make additions. Make sure to post pics!

Can't say I'd enjoy the 50 2 1/2" with a bullet that the thing can handle + the BP. Doesn't mean that I wouldn't be appreciative of the fine work that comes from Big Timber though.
What do you plan to load for it?
Both of my BPCR's were built before folks were drilling and tapping those barrels often for scopes. It'll cost me a mint to ship for it now, but my eyes surely are wanting a MVA scope. Is your 1874 D&T?

Why the round barrel and not octagon?

I have had several octagon and 1/2 round barrels but I have never had a round barrel so thought it was time to try one. It is going to be strictly for hunting so I figured why not. It is not D&T, plan on using the barrel sights

Another great choice. I love the retro and hyphenated cartridges in rifles and revolvers.

I peruse Goodman's occasionally and I believe yours has the semi fancy wood, 30" and shotgun butt? I've always considered Shiloh's semi fancy wood to not be semi at all.
Understand on the no D&T with your choice of rifle. No bells and whistles, but very fine nonetheless.

That is it #11126. Their semi fancy rivals a lot of extra fancies.

Sounds like great hunting gun! My Shiloh is a 45-100 in silhouette trim. Fantastic rifle.

Looked in the Goodman site, had no idea he had so much stuff. This may give me inspiration to dig mine out, it’s a 45-70 business rifle from Farmingdale New York, not sure when they made the switch to Big Timber but sometime in the mid 80s.

Groo here I lucked onto a Shiloh about 20 years ago. The man said it kicked too hard for matches so got gun brass dies and mold [paper patch] The gun was custom ordered and is like a plain jane "Quigley" It is big , heavy , ladder sights and the wood is "out of this world". But ,,, It KICKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Guess because it is 45-120 3 1/4 in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't know which would win the contest on recoil (45 3 1/4" or 50 2 1/2") but I know one guy who won't find out.
