But so is the .44 Special ! I know it is popular to bore the old 3 screw .357s to 44 special, And if i did,nt have a 4 5/8ths Bisley 44 special already , i would do a conversion, But i think i will just leave my 3 screw flat top in .357. I had Tyler gun works make me a set of stag grips for it, and they look great and fit perfectly. i think i will just have the trigger and action worked over , have fermin build me a gold bead front sight, a color case job, make sure the chambers are all the same size, n shoot it. I would back off from top end loads, with her , but it is a magnum, not a .38. A potent and beautiful revolver, and it would get you out of the vast majority of situations where a gun is needed...tj

Sounds like a plan. The 357 is excellent as is.

I've also thought of doing the 44 special conversion; but each time I look at what I'm trying to achieve, I keep the 357 mag.
I'm a handloader and believe I can make both those calibers do very similar work. I don't think the target will know the difference.
I often find myself having a difficult time differentiating between calibers because of the ability to hit max's and downloads with so many loading recipes. The difference in velocity between calibers is not a line, but a range. The overlap of velocities can be a few hundreds of fps between two calibers.
The .32's are really fun in this regard, because the overlap between .32 , 32 H&Rmag, 327fedmag, and 32-20 makes for huge numbers of possibilities. Guys who like to shoot one caliber, one recipe, in one gun; need not apply. I am the Chameleon; variety is the spice of life for me.

Odd shooter, That's me too, I have only been back into revolvers for a couple years, And I get a kick out of all the rounds i shoot, 22,LR and Mag, .327 fed .357 .41mag .44 special and mag 45 lc and waiting on a .454. i would like to do a 32/20, but I have enough cash tied up in projects now for awhile, i have a bearcat at Tyler's and the 454 at Reeder's. Need to get those done before I do something else.

That sounds like a great, FUN list of calibers to me. I would personally have to throw in the 357 Maximum.
That 454 of yours is the only one I haven't found in the herd as yet. At 71, I'm beginning to see a lot of shade around heavy recoil thumpers. I'm already downloading my 44 mags into 44 special territory.
And if you enjoy variety, you will love the 32-20. It's one of those rare bottle necked revolver cartridges and that adds a little spice to the sauce. In 1900's shooters, the accuracy is amazing and almost no recoil. In a modern revolver, it will shoot right beside that 327fedmag.

I had a 92 Winchester in 32/20 for awhile, if the chance comes i might get another. i know a Washington rancher who hunts deer with a 32/20. I think the deer live on his ranch and let him walk right up and shoot !...
