Seeking advice on what is available & pricing. Looks like the CZ 455 Varminter is thought highly of, but it has been discontinued. Sako & Anschutz have always been held in high regard. What else should I look at? What about barrel material, construction, contour, length & twist? This looks like fun: youtu.be/Fhy8iTphTjE (Coverage of the Know Your Limits stage of the November 22 LR Marksman Challenge.) Thanks.

Look at the Tikka too. Great gun for the money.
What is budget? If it’s open sort of....look at the Vudoo. We have a couple and they shoot AMAZING!

Or a used CZ 452. Have one of their Training Rifles and it shoots extremely small groups with the right ammo (mostly subsonic stuff). Are you sure the CZ 455 Varmint rifle has been discontinued? Last on-line catalog I looked at still showed them.

www.gunbroker.com/item/872645360 22hrs left BNP $759 www.gunbroker.com/item/876944758 1 day left BNP $700 VarmitA without Target stock www.gunbroker.com/item/872223838BNP $507 And many more listed. www.gunbroker.com/Bolt-Action-Rifles/search?PageSize=24&Sort=13&View=2&Ch-manufacturerName=CZ-USA&Ch-Caliber=.22%20LRYou need to spend money on Google Foo, lol Edit To Add: My bad JM, your looking for the 455. Got another SMOKE day at work (hazardous air quality) and slept in. Readers are in the truck and trying to wake up squinting at the phone screen. I've got two Remingtins that do pretty well, a Guberment 40x set up as a trainer but don't have the balls to convert it to a mag feed and a later 541 S. They both shoot well although the 541 is a picky eater and pricey for what it is. The earlier 541s out of the custom shop now they are beautiful and command the premium. I bought a 22mag Anschutz in a time crunch before leaving Germany. Still wish it was the double set trigger but it's a shooter to for a 64 action. Look at the used ones on GB, every once in awhile a deal comes up. I also have a Volquartsen VX2500. Great shooter but too heavy, bench or position only. They recently took on the new toggle link action by TC3 I believe. Looked at a model with a magpul stock and CF wrapper barrel for a squirrel rifle but they are still getting mixed reviews.

I don't know what the differences are in the various CZ rimfire models. Just saw that the 455 was well thought of. Think it was discontinued in 2018. My 22LR experience is limited to Ruger 10/22, Marlin 60, couple of lever-actions & a Contender Carbine. The nicest 22LR scope I've ever used, would be a Leupold 3X9 EFR. How about hitting an egg @ 200yds? youtu.be/egoG2Z8EZigyoutu.be/coC92rS8Ems

I would highly recommend the Tikka T1X. I've got 4 CZ's in various forms, and they are quite accurate, but the Tikka T1X can shoot rings around them. The CZ's can do 1/2" or less 5 shot groups at 50 yards, but the Tikka can do 1/4" or less 5 shot groups with lower price target ammo. I'm really impressed with the Tikka. It's very well built. I like the walnut and blued steel of the CZ's, but boy can the Tikka T1X shoot!!!!!

The Tikka looks interesting.
Anyone have advice on 16" vs. 20" barrel length?

Never did hear a budget level or actually if looking for Target or Sporter type. Don't forget, there are a LOT of very capable old orphan 22's out there so no need to spend a lot of bucks. Easy to get swept up in expensive equipment but not really necessary unless you want to. Not sure I ever had a bolt action 22 that could not outshoot my abilities with a little tweeking.

On a budget, I've had a Savage MkII that I finally wore out. Accuracy was excellent as was reliability until it quit going bang. It is headed back to Savage, I suspect a combination of headspace and weak striker spring. 6X SWFA SS was my scope of choice on it.
For a Semi, my KIDD Supergrade will give most any other 22's a run for it's money. Locked into a Victor Company Titan stock with the rear anchor. With a SWFA 3-15 FFP scope. Golf balls at 200 are not safe.
Bolt gun wise my Anschutz is... well an Anschutz... it shoots, extremely well. Model 1710 with a 54 action. SWFA SS 6X on top for squirrels and rabbits. It's pretty too!
My next is Zermatt RimX. 700 footprint. Prefit barrels. It is going in a Grayboe Terrain stock. Haven't picked a scope yet but a Vortex AMG is on the short list.

+1 Kidd, and 20 rounds in a three inch long magazine is cool.

Then there is Accurate, Fun, and Classic... When weight and size don't matter Winchester 52C from 1957... Balvar 6-24 from 1955
