The revolver is a factory built Bisley 44 Special blue steel. 4 5/8ths. The problem is with the base pin. It comes out with almost every shot, even mild loads. my 1st attempt at a solution was to change the the latch pin spring to a wolf, And all that did was to decrease the amount of travel when the spring came out. My next attempt was to Use a Belt mountain pin with a set screw. And that helped a bunch, The 1st time i shot it withe new pin all went well. But I shot Saturday, with Some Skeeter loads, and all was going well till after about 15 rounds the pin came out again. Only about a quarter inch , but enough to lock the gun up, And cause a end to my shoot. I brought it home, and backed the set screw out and pushed the pin in fine. I called Ruger and have some trouble with way they want to handle the shipping to return it. I could return it anyway, But it might prove to be a big pain i don,t need. The question, is there an easy fix i am unaware of ? one i can do myself ? I think for now i will make sure i have the proper Allen wrench with me when i go and continue shooting this otherwise excellent revolver. I plan on having it worked over, by Tyler gun works anyway, and i could have them fix that problem as well as do the custom work i want. I can use other revolvers in the meantime when I need one i can count on... Do i seem to be on a good path here ? ...tj

I would ask Ruger to do a pre paid package label and send it back to them and see what they can do.
All you're out is a little time.

Did you drill a slight recess in the barrel for the Allen screw in the Belt Mnt. pin to recess into? Just tightening the screw so it presses against the barrel may not be sufficient and it may well deflect the base pin. Once a small recess is drilled in the bottom of the barrel the side of the screw bears against the wall of the recess and it can not come out.

Well I would let Ruger take a look at it Ask them for the prepaid label It sounds like the base pin hole might be the issue I don't think it is anything you can do at home and if it is altered you lose the ability to have them cover it for you Sorry for all the problems u are having too Stay safe out there God Bless,John

You can try a Belt Mountain base pin latch. But, drilling a small divot in your barrel will allow the base pin screw to have something to arrest its movement. I have to say, despite having bought base pins with setscrews, I've never used the setscrew.

Ruger did not offer me a prepaid anything, They sent me an E mail so i could print a label, if i had a printer. I went to office Depot , and they cant print it for me. There web sight blocks anything with the word gun in it ! And i can,t be sure anyone would be home to except the return shipment. The Dimple on the barrel is a good idea, not sure i want to do it myself, but could pay a local smith. it would be easy with a drill press. Thank you ...tj3006

My 44 Spl Bisley had the same problem. Ruger emailed the shipping label and I sent the gun off. Mine also had a front sight that was canted to the right at about 12:30 pm and a small spot of bluing that didn't take quite right.
It was back to me in around 2 weeks or so with everything fixed. I think they re-blued the entire gun. They also put on a taller front sight because I told them my loads kept going too high with the rear sight bottomed out.

Friends, neighbors, even the library, have had stuff printed there. I was thinking when I called for a return they scheduled a pickup with fedex and they labeled it for me?

What is the fit like? - You can check the frame with pin gages
- You can check the pin using a micrometer.

My first stop would be the local library. They should be able to get you set with the lable within 20 minutes - and that includes the time it'll take for you to remember what your email password is 😂. Barring that, any decent gun shop, hardware, or pawn shop should be able to get you squared away as well.

The last time I contacted Ruger about a revolver with issues they did not offer me a pre-paid label either, just offered to send me a shipping label, one I had to pay the shipping on. This was about a three screw they converted that would not pass a range rod test.

Probably should return to Ruger. If the frame or anything else is out of spec, let them handle the repair. Send it off for customization after it is squared away.
Does Ruger in Prescott, AZ. handle the repair? If so, ask for Laura.
I bought one of the first stainless Bearcats many years ago. It did not function properly. The bore for the hammer screw was not square to the frame causing the hammer to be tilted. Sometimes something slips by QC.
