Does anyone here have one of the newly made Henry 1860s made by Henry?

Don’t own one but a friend does. Very nice gun with excellent fit and finish. Accurate shooter too. I own an older Uberti steel frame and as nice as the “Henry” is I wouldn’t say the extra cost is worth it.
When they decided to produce an American made reproduction I wish it would’ve been in 44 Special. The receiver could’ve been made the same size as the original 44 rimfire gun. Instead it’s in 44-40 and so it’s receiver is longer just as the Ubertis are. On second thought I’m glad they didn’t. Saved me from buying one.

Thankyou. I have seen. Used uberti but not the Henry. they sure look beautiful. Henry making them in America is worth the extra cost to me if there as nice in person as pictures.

Well it seems I’ll never get to handle one on a local shelf their pretty much a special order option in my area. any feedback appreciated but I’m pretty sure I’m going to try and order one in .45 colt if any are available.

I won one at out local club banquet a couple years ago (Best $10 raffle ticket I ever bought). Nice shooter and well made. The trigger leaves a lot to be desired and I've been meaning to send it back to see if Henry will clean it up a bit. Overall, the rifle and all the support material that comes with it is impressive. Mine is chambered in 45Colt and I use it in our levergun silhouette matches. I let anyone shoot it who wants to, as I feel it's a "Club Gun" that should be shared by all members... I'm just the assigned caretaker.
Let me know if you want any more particulars.
Mike
PS: simple45, if you're local (Lake Co. CA), you can shoot mine and compare it directly with a Uberti my Buddy shoots at the same matches. The Uberti has a better trigger than mine, but I think that could easily be luck of the draw as to what leaves the factory.

This is what I was waiting on Thankyou stump buster. I’m not in California by a long shot but I sure wish I had one local to handle it is a hefty price tag sight unseen I think around 2k. my main questions would be does it feed a swc Keith style bullet if the correct oal is maintained or is it strictly a rnfp shooter. I’m not looking to hot rod it to heavy but I would like to push a 250 or 260 to 1200 or so for whitetail hunting. I have heard the oal for reliable feeding is 1.6 is that correct? have you noticed any shortcomings or problems with yours that aren’t particular to the design? anything you want to tell me I’m all ears. Thanks a bunch!

simple45,
I won't have the rifle with me until later this week. I'll run some different cartridges through it and let you know if any of them have any hiccups.

This is what I was waiting on Thankyou stump buster. simple45, I apologize for the delay. I didn't have any true "Keith" bullets or SWC's loaded up (I know, I’m fired), but here's what cycled/fed today (and what didn't)... What works... 255gr plated Truncated Cone 250gr RNFP 250gr Matt's Full Wadcutter What doesn't... 345gr Beartooth Bullet WLNGC (they are too long...which is good, since they are loaded WARM for my Clement's Custom) Surprisingly, the Matt's seemed to feed the smoothest. I may have to see how they shoot. All the Best, Mike
