I guess it doesn't really matter though, I've jacked it all up beyond all normal RedHawkness any way huh? LOL

When Ronnie posted the photo of his old skinny barrel redhawk, it reminded me of something I'd seen in a photo album at the shop. Fifteen or so years ago Jack had built a 5-shot Redhawk with non-standard barrel profile. He'd shown this to me when I first started talking about my Bisley grip style Redhawk project idea.

Rob Rowan is doing some remarkable work with a more bisley shaped grip on redhawks to help with the straight back into the web of your hand recoil.

Maybe he’ll come along and post some pics. I don’t feel like I should.

That looks interesting. Now I'm wanting to start shaping some wood. Thanks I have the cylinder and extractor blanked out, and I have much more work to do. I'm busy with client guns. I'll be getting back on that project this winter.

This thread inspired me to buy one of these. Have a 4 inch stainless model on its way. Should make a great addition to my collection. Might drop it off at Bowens for some work. Had a 4 inch 44 Redhawk years ago and mistakenly sold it. I wont make the same mistake twice.

Not a Redhawk or even a Ruger, but this Taurus Raging Bull 5" in 454 Casull is now a total joy to shoot heavy loads in with my grip modification. In the top picture you see the straight back of the original grip, which pounded the web of my shooting hand. Ten minutes on a belt sander made the grip fit my hand like a glove, spreading the recoil across the web and entire palm evenly. I can now shoot 340s @ 1200 fps all day long without pain.

I had a 454 Taurus just like that one. I got it after 2 years of arguing with Taurus over the destruction of my 480 Raging Bull. I was really really pissed off when I finally got it. I admit to shooting 2 cylinders thru it. I have 2 other 454's and I am here to tell you,the Taurus is the easiest shooting platform out there and it is really accurate too. But they pissed me off so bad in the dealings that I traded it in on ironically a round butt Ruger 45 Colt/45 ACP wich I flat out hated and traded on my first S&W. a 29-9.
