Hi guys I'm so free and participate in the thread here. A few months ago I got a Manurhin MR73 in very good condition, except for one problem: it had a bulge in the barrel, passed through a stuck bullet on which another one hit. Since it would have been a shame to process this beautiful piece of revolver into spare parts, I decided to give it a new life. So it get a new polygon bullbarrel with flattened sides and a clean frame transition. The top is like the frame and the front sight deliberately kept in a matt finish, the rest has been polished to a high gloss. It was also necessary to install double ball crane locks and to protect the ER with an attached underlug. Matching walnut grips completes the whole thing. These conversions have been kept as discreet as possible, a fat polygon barrel would not look good on the dainty revolver. And this is how it looks like:
....and the damn thing runs like hell!
Best regards from germany. -ZPW

***** ZPW..... welcome aboard. Looks to be fine work to restore your sixgun. Barrel flats on a revolver usually degrade the aesthetic. The flats compliment your Manurhin. Somewhere in one of my photo essays on IHMSA silhouette, the Manurhin Model 73 Silhouette is depicted with members of the French team on the firing line in Idaho, USA. The Manurhin .357 received as flash of high grades from some top IHMSA silhouetters, but the revolver outpriced our blue collar shooters and distribution was thin. IHMSA All-American Walter Roger----from Scotland----made a point of showing me his, But when Walter and I teamed to win a timed, sudden death silhouette match sponsored by Wild Turkey, we each shot an Smith & Wesson Model 20 .44 Magnum with 8-3/8” barrel. That is quite a surprise. I didn't know how you improved a Manurhin, but your new barrel is just a perfect visual complement.
The slab sided barrel just looks like a great addition.
That matching top strap is sweet as well. It looks better than factory. You have superb taste.
