I have written often of my love for my first caliber, the 32-20 WCF. I started with my step dad's first gen Colt SAA and Winchester 32-20 combo. They were great guns to start with for a young shooter; very accurate with mild recoil. The nostalgia for me is very personal. I thought the two would wind up at my house, but that was not to be after the blood son was born. "C'est la vie", such is life. I finally saw a first gen Colt SAA in 32-20 last year at the Phoenix SAR show. It was $4,250 and the dealer wasn't budging. I let it slip through my fingers. Last week I saw a Dan Wesson 32-20 at auction. I have searched for that gun for 10 years and never thought I would ever see one; let alone one for sale. The price was way above what I thought it was worth and I really disliked the seller. However, all of the negatives went away when I looked at the shooter. This was an opportunity I might never see again in my lifetime. Yep, you already know the answer; I bought it. I bought a very similar gun, Dan Wesson 32 H&Rmag, a couple of months ago. I have looked for that about 7 years. It came with a second barrel and second shroud scoped with a nice Leupold. I believe the barrels are the same between the 32-20 and the 32 H&R for the Dan Wessons and should be interchangeable. I started to hunt for a cylinder to ream out to 32-20 for the existing 32 H&Rmag DW, but now that's unnecessary. Hard to describe what a huge BONUS this will be if it all works out. These days I need a scope for my tired old eyes, but there was no way I was going to Drill and Tap that pristine DW. Now I have two .32's with 3 barrels/shrouds in 2 calibers, and a scope that should work for both. Money is fleeting; but regret can last forever. Some days you just got to pull the trigger when you see the perfect target in your sights Prescut Pics to follow.

The joy of shooting the 32/20 far out weighs the pain of the fragile brass, single stage loading, and lube removal from the cases.
I hope the gun shoots up to the DW standards because it should fantastic...

Obtaining a grail gun is nothing short of utter excitement, no matter the price paid. You'll surely enjoy it for many days to come and you'll soon forget about all the trails that you went through in obtaining it!
Can't wait to see pictures of it!

Not 100% sure but I think on the small frame Dan Wessons a shroud is a shroud . As in, if you are looking for another shroud to drill and tap ,ANY ole 357 shroud the same length as your barrel will work. That leaves only the confusion of caliber marking on the shroud.

I saw the auctions for both a DW 32-20 and 45 Colt on GB a couple weeks ago. I was going to post a link but after getting my hind end chewed in the past for doing so a messing up some members plans I no longer do much link sharing.
The 32-20 was tempting but the Ruger bisley I have in that caliber is such a sweet shooter I figured to let someone else enjoy the pleasure of owning the 32-20 DW.

and a big thank you to John for posting his DW 32-20 with that beautiful long barrel; 10"? Is that a factory wood combat grip? very nice shooter ! I'm not a fan of the rubber on mine; and yes, I realize they can be quite functional. I'm already looking for something nice to put on these two beauties. Any suggestions? The excitement of acquiring something special is exceeded only by the joy of being able to fondle it. Prescut

I would say the price is right in line with what some rare high end Dan Wesson’s are selling for. I think you did good. As for the grips check out LB custom grips. One of the DWs I bought has a custom set of combats on it from him. Very nicely made lbcustomgrips.com/grips/revolver-grips/
