I'm disappointed not seeing a 41 mag on the list...
I've been doing research on them because I want to pick up a 41 mag one.
As I've been doing some reading, I've seen a couple cases when they recommend you shooting the standard bullet weights to the caliber (240 gr 44 cal, 250-260gr 45 cal), so if you plan on shooting longer profile bullets, they may not feed properly.
This again is only based off research I've done and reading I've seen on the internet already, so take it for what it's worth. I have no physically run into any of these as I do not own one of these rifles.
Otherwise, Either one is going to be great, but I'm going to nod towards the 44 mag as you'll also gain the capability to shoot 44 special.

Started out with the .45 Colt 45+ years ago ,it will always be my favorite and most used. Either .44 or .45 would make a fine caliber for a lever gun but make mine a .45.

I'd have to have more information nfo. Do you handload? Will you be making your own ammo for this gun?

I have a 45 colt marlin that I like, but I am with squigz on this one. My next lever gun will be a 41 mag henry.

Might should have explained myself better didn't mean shooting threw brush (have a 45 70 for that and a Encore 500 s&w katilina) ment short handy light rifle to pack around in mts and brush.

YOU CANNOT COUNT ON ANYTHING SHOOTING THROUGH BRUSH INCLUDING A .45-70 OR .500. I MISSED ON A BUFFALO WITH A .454. WE HAD IT ON VIDEO AND WHEN WE LOOKED AT IT THE BULLET HIT A PIECE OF BRUSH SO SMALL I DIDN'T EVEN SEE IT THERE. ANOTHER TIME I HIT AN AOUDAD IN THE RUMP. WE HAD VIDEO OF THIS ALSO AND THE 6.5 BULLET HIT A LOW HANGING BRANCH. ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN TO ANY BULLET THAT HITS SOMETHING EVEN VERY SMALL. ON THE OTHER HAND I TOOK A MULE DEER AFTER THE BULLET WENT THROUGH A SMALL SAPLING. IT PROVIDED ENOUGH RESISTANCE FOR THE BULLET TO GO THROUGH INSTEAD OF BEING DEFLECTED.

I've got the .41 carbine & love it. Shoots great & negligible recoil, even with stout 240gr Keiths. Feeds the longer COAL 240gr as well as it does 215gr LSWC, which is to say flawlessly.
ETA- those 240gr loads are just a few thou shy of flush with the end of my .41 Blackhawks' cylinders.
I'd choose the .45 if I had to pick between that & the .44. No reason other than I like the .45. Can't go wrong, either way. Henry makes good stuff.

If you are gonna reload, either. If not then the 44mag.. A 1894 Marlin 44 mag here. But 44 things have been around here since the mid '80's.

I chose 44Mag because of commecial ammo availability, compatibility with more potentially paired handguns, versatility to use 44 SPL brass, etc.
