I too carry a case trapper, this one with the yellow handle. Also have a buck 112 auto. Stays pretty sharp unless I’m cutting something I shouldn’t. When sharpening try a convex edge. Seems to last much longer. I have Benchmade, Chris reeves, buck, case, old timer , Gerber, Kershaw , the sharpest, best edge retention knife I have is an older buck 110 from the 70s

decided I'm in need of a new EDC since I lost my little well worn AK-47 auto knife... that one was smaller than the bigger versions, & lasted the longest, finish was well worn off the grey aluminum handle... the 1/2 serrated blade kept things cutting between sharpenings I decided on the Case mini Trapper linked below www.knifecenter.com/item/CA23432 prior to my little auto knife, I used to carry a little 2 blade S&W knife that had a straight razor blade, like linked below www.amazon.com/Smith-Wesson-CKRD-Bullseye-Razor/dp/B000B609YUI used the razor blade for whacking stretch wrap & such, where a point was not needed, ( I'm often cutting stretch wrap off pallets of bags, where the point wasn't needed & often poked the bags ) & tried to keep the pointed blade from finding stuff that would take the edge off

I'm currently carry the following one. Reminds me of old Al Mar i have that is long, pointy, and not as easy to flip open as some due to length and stud placement. One of the sharpest factory knives i've had though. Cut myself trying to get the hang of opening it quickly vs the CQC7 (love hate relationship currently misplaced along with a Dozer, Burmley, & some others) I used for a long time on farm and the William Henry (appropriated by my wife) I used for the office. www.benchmade.com/417-fact-family.htmlSomething like the 940-2, 943, and some of the following may be more practical for most things though. www.benchmade.com/535gry-1.htmlwww.benchmade.com/535bk-2-bugout.htmlBenchmade has a number of good ones. I've had good luck with other brands too. Just check out steel type, shape, and reviews.

I received my Blue Kirinite Case Mini Trapper today... the scales are hard to describe, but "grippy" not slippery... think that material would make excellent gun grips... the blue scales look a mile deep... blades are "reasonably" factory sharp... it'll go to my wife now... after spending 10 years in the packing house, she can put an edge on a knife better than I'll ever be able to do... we'll see how long I can hang on to this one

I'm a 1 1/2 pocket knife guy...
Have carried a VictorinoxSwiss Army knife, Grand Prix from the late 1980s till 1995 when I gave it to my aunt after a bicycle trip we did, and have carried a Craftsman daily ever since.
The "1/2" comes in as I have a few other folders that I carry when I need a larger main blade that will deploy with one hand.
Cold Steel Pocket Bushman...don't think one can buy a tougher folder for $25.00. And it stays sharp. I have a large bucket full of knives and when I took a three month trip to Idaho it and the SAK are the only two knives I took.
If something a little lighter is called for, I was gifted a Bechmade folder...don't remember the model but it has a 3 3/8" blade and black checked G10 scales. Opens like it is on roller bearings and closes easier than any other knife I have ever owned..
There are just so many great knives out there....

My youngest son asked about a pocket knife for carrying so for his birthday I am sending him one of my favorite Benchmade EDC knives. it is the Osborne model along with his selected Ralston hierloom knife of the light weight hunter with the Dall scales. The new little EDC Kim made for me with giraffe bone sales and the modified Barranti sheath works great as well.

Can you tell us more about your typical use? Buck 110 so assuming probably not an office. The Benchmade 940-2 & 943 are very highly recommended in many circles and you can find them around your price point if you shop around or consider used. www.benchmade.com/940-943-family.htmlI have both the 940 (carbon fiber model) and the 943. I like the blade shape of the 943 better but both are great.

I carry five knives. A Case Medium Stockman, a Cold Steel Tufflite, a Case Sodbuster, a TOPS that is designed for neck carry but it hangs from my belt and a Benchmade Contego. A knife is good to have. I have been known to carry a Cold Steel Extra Large Espada. Plus I carry a gun. plus I carry a Ronson Butane lighter (I dont smoke), and a few feet of paracord. A good knife is good to have. Im a few clicks off center.

I have several of the older Sodbuster knives, the ones with the engraving on the blade. I recently purchased another with orange scales but sans the engraving. I am anxious to see if the steel is the same as the older ones.

I have been completely thrilled with Great Eastern Cutlery for traditional style pocket knives, 1095 carbon will patina and or rust but has great edge holding and performance.

After yesterday I need to get back in the queue with Kim. I plan on leaving what I like to call heirloom items to each of my kids and their spouses and this includes guns and knives. Since my daughter is here and we can FaceTime with our kids that are deployed, I handled the knife transfer yesterday. Each person had at least three knives to choose from and when it was done I was left with a light hunter in musk ox and a skinner. The daughter in law selected the small giraffe bone EDC so I need to get a replacement on order from Kim.
My plan is to gradually give these items to each if the kids do I can still be around to see them enjoy them rather than wait until I’m gone.

An Uncle worked for CASE Knife, years ago. GEC is not far to my east, I go thru Titusville a few times a year and buy my black powder at a small LGS there. A neat little town.
