No load data for Universal powder in .32-20... had to figure it out on my own. This load seems to have worked out well- a 100gr. reverse-HBW over 4.0gr of Universal with a Federal #100 primer, loaded to an OAL of 1.485". From my 4" Police Positive Special this gives 809 fps and 145 ft.lbs at the muzzle. Should be able to go another 0.5gr. of powder without exceeding max pressure, but why? Not picturing this as a self-defense load; more like small game.

I'm always searching for anything 32-20.
But I don't have any Universal so I'm no help on load data.
Those hollow base wadcutter bullets look kool upside down. Was that to keep the OAL shorter?
I see evidence of a 1/4" ring, shiny spot at the bottom of the case. I always thought that was the sizer die not being able to go down far enough. Is that correct? I see it on more than a few of mine.
809fps seems like a sedate load. That should be fine for your intended purpose. I don't know that Police Positive's specs but I assume you are trying to keep pressure down. I've gone the other route with my 32-20 Buckeye. It's hell for stout and I've been pushing it pretty hard with VV N340. 1340fps with accuracy.
I grew up with my first shoots being 32-20. She is like an old friend sitting on the porch swapping lies.

Yep, a little light for me in that caliber. I got some 135g in 32-20 that I am heading out to do group/velocity testing with next week.

You might want to do some testing. When I tried loading the 38 Special with HBWC's loaded backwards, I could not get any load to adequately stabilize the bullet, and by 25 yards they were going through the target sideways..... Tried multiple different guns with the same result. Your 32 backwards wadcutters may well suffer the same problem as the really big, deep cavity seems to make them unstable at any more than very short range.....

We saw the same thing in the 70s with HB WCs in the 38 Special. Sideways into the plank. Sure did look cool though. I'm about to try it again.

Interesting.
I too experimented with the reversed HBWC's in the 70's,, and found that the swagged soft Hornady's were the best bullet. At 25 yds,, they were still flying true,, and if shot into a soft medium, like wet newspaper,, the mushroom was picture perfect, as long as you kept the velocities reasonable. I recall using Bullseye powder for them.
As for accuracy & all,, well, I had an issue back in the early 80's where we had problem dogs in our area. My mother told me to "burn their butts" so I was using a different load in my 357,, for that purpose. First 2 rounds were a burn butt load,, followed by a few rounds of inverted HBWC's. Well, as fate would have it,, I'd fired a single round of burn butt,, and failed to replace it. I then had an issue with a dog,, where the first round burned his butt, got him in gear leaving and figured to "impress upon him to never return." Round 2 was the inverted HBWC, at about 55-60 yds. Turns out,, the dog's owner was not too happy with it all, and I got charged with "Cruelty to animals." My mother hired the attorney, and I went to court. The vet testified that the "Nine inch deep wound channel was the nastiest wound channel he'd ever seen." Made me appreciate the ammo quite well. BTW; Due to NC law concerning dogs on other people's property, and health issues & other things,, (Including my Mom testifying in court about dogs sh***#ng on her property,) I never even had to testify. Yes, she said it out loud in court, causing a bit of laughter. I was acquitted.

I can't vouch for them beyond 25 yards, but they are flying true at that distance.
