Common error. I did it also until I was learned. I suspect most folks think there are two R's.

Now, just two generations ago you would hear a Vermonter say, “I need some CATridges for PATridges.” Selective dropping of “r” from a word was practiced from Brooklyn to Maine, and west into Vermont. With area accent, of course. Whereas many teachers packed a steel ruler or rolled-up fan belt to encourage positive thinking, John may have packed a sixgun. David Bradshaw

Almost always I say "Partridge", because to me it has some meaning. The word Patridge is kind of out of place I guess so I usually don't use it. Call me a Redneck or Hillbilly, I've been called worse........ I don't like calling a revolver a "wheelgun" and I never do but that's just me!

Does powder coating make any difference or is this from the powder gasses? I don't own a MNP gun, so just curious. Dick No it does not,at least with the 6 I have. Same stuff, just not as gooey.

I stopped trying to correct "partridge" and "Leopold" a long time ago.... JT, I meant trying to correct other people from saying "patridge" and "Leopold"... I`am a longtime friend of a Utah guide and over the years no matter how many times he will say Leopold and I`ll tell him its Leupold he still mispronounce`s it... So I stopped trying to correct it...
