50 yards, field position, very impressive accuracy, PITA to load in an FA tho They are easy to size down with a Lee push thru size die. www.midwayusa.com/product/1018523537FWIW, Paul

Tough to load because of the tight chambers?

From your mud test, it looks like high velocity is not your friend with this bullet.
What was the velocity with the first load?

Tough to load because of the tight chambers? I would say yes with them being fat. I've always run into bullet sizing issues with my 83 in 44 Magnum. A .430" is all it wants and that is with a push after a few cylinders full have been fired. As the revolver is what it is and how it shoots everything, I just size cast bullets for it and label them accordingly. I've never run into a jacketed bullet larger than .4295" ish and haven't had to concern myself with jacketed bullets. How do they shoot accuracy wise?

That’s exactly what I did. I might shorten up the COAL a bit more though? I still have to push a little bit as-is. A .430” pin will fit my throats but I doubt a .4301” would LOL.

I tried the Zero's at both .431 and thru the Lee push thru die (ended up .430" IIRC). No difference in any of my .44s (but I don't have a FA83 .44). I had a similar problem with FA 300gr factory ammo in an early FA83 .454. Cartridges had to be forced into charge holes. Turned out to be abrupt lead. FA chamfered the lede's when I sent the gun in for 45 colt cyl and firing pin mod -- problem solved.

Nice looking bullet but having tested JSP bullets in water jugs there is sometimes some riveting and a lot of penetration but very little expansion compared to a HP at handgun velocities. With a 10" barrel you may get enough velocity to see better expansion in water or ballistic gel.
Mississippi Mud would probably act the same way duct seal did...cause a lot more expansion than flesh does...
Will be interested in seeing the outcome of your water jog test...
Bob
ps...use at least 8 jugs and have something like a box of cloth/newspaper behind the last jug as it may run through all of them or veer off before getting through all of them..

One day I hope to do it. I would have felt kinda like a jerk buying jugs of water to shoot when the shelves were somewhat bare because people were buying water for consumption. Then when the shelves were pretty well stocked, I had kinda lost my steam and moved on to something else.
