So this happened. Hybrid Polymer lower (from an 80% kit) with a Foxtrot Mike 5" M-lock Glock compatible upper with flash-can, Aero Precision Lower parts kit, Timney Triggers Impact single-stage trigger and ambidextrous safety, Sylvan Glock magwell adapter, Angstad ares 5.4oz. 9mm recoil assembly, Bushnell TRS25 Red Dot sight, SBa3 brace and ETS Polymer magazines. The A2 grip is temporary; a Magpul grip is on the way. I researched my parts carefully and made sure all the various bits would work and play well together, so naturally when I got it to the range I expected it to not work. To my utter astonishment it performed flawlessly. Standing unsupported at 25 yards, 1 shot per second- Had a couple flyers before I realized the finger-tight optics riser was loosening up... a quick application of a screwdriver tightened thing right up. Still had ammo after sighting in and testing, so i did a fast string of double-taps at ten yards- I built this as a fun/home defense gun; basically a PDW. More than a pistol, less than a carbine. 9mm because it's cheap, I'm swimming in brass and I can shoot it at the indoor range where I am a member. Nothing tacti-cool here; this is a straight-up functional build using quality- but not over-priced or flashy- components. If it wasn't so much fun I'd think I'd built an appliance... but it is great fun, and continues to be reliable it'll be my new 'nightstand gun.'

DON'T WANT TO GORE ANYBODY ELSE's OX, BUT "technically" IS NOT ENUFF FOR ME TO ACCEPT IT AS A PISTOL, JUST MY FEELINGS, WHICH ARE NOT HURT BY THE OP.

Good looking little heater there! I went 10.5" for mine. You might look at these as another way to feed it: Mean Arms Endomag. They replace the guts of a PMag so there's no need for an adapter. I picked up a couple to try in mine while I debated a Glock or Colt SMG mag set up. After doing the ejector tune and break in, they've run fine during my function checks at the range.

I looked at those, but the appeal of being able to use Glock Magazines and wanting to use the product recommended by the manufacturer of the upper decided me. I certainly like the look of the endomag conversions better...

"Technically" my Contender is a pistol. I like that! Had a 300blk Black Rain Ordnance the same size..loved it but somebody made me an offer I couldn't refuse. I have a CZ Evo to fill my 9mm spot. Like it too...mags are dirt cheap, surprisingly. Still might get an AR platform, hard to beat.

UPS (pronounced 'oops') finally deigned to deliver the Magpul grip, and it is soooo much better than the A2 grip. So now the gun is, for the moment, complete.

Mine is a Diamondback with a 14" barrel in .300 Blackout, it will shoot lights out with the cheapest crap ammo you can feed it.

This is sooo far from your usual posts it is striking. The next upgrade needs to be a drum mag... that'll make it balance nice AND the night stand will probably need to be upgraded as well.

...A factor to think about with the AR pistol. Here in Alabama our CCW permits specifically state "pistol" and includes in our vehicles. We interpret this as meaning pistol, NOT a rifle or Shotgun. These AR things are pistols. No 9mm here. I have 7.62x39, 556, and 300 BO AR pistols.. Slap on a Vortex Prism scope and party down! I will own up to having a 22LR AR based Tactical Solutions pistol too. 7.62x39 AR Pistol is a decent 25 Yard gun.
