Went up to my mountain again,
What a blast , Shot the Super single six, It is tons of fun,but i need to find a magnum load it likes and buy a bunch, point of impact changes a ton wha you switch loads !
Shot some 38 special level, loads in magnum cases from my GP 100 and a few magnum lights all with true blue, it is a useful powder shoots well and burns very clean.
Then i got down to business with my 4 5/8ths bisley. I had 3 loads, all fairly heavy with 2400. A 240 grain XTP under 17 grains, I only had 5 of them, so didn't learn much.
Don't think my gun liked that load real well.
I had some 240 grain EXtreme jacketed bullets over 16.5 grains and things got better, All pretty well centered on the paper and i had chipps flying of the log i been blasting at. The last load i had about 24 of shot great that was 16 grains of 2400 under a 255 grain GT SWC, I ran out of targets, so i pinned a paper rapper to my box, i walked 20 long strides and fired six rounds, 4 Touching in a Horizontal string and the other two close enough to make the center to center spread 1.34 for 6 rounds at 20 paces. Probably 50 feet plus.
The 4 5/8th barrel length, is just right for my eyes, i see the front sight well,
And this load is potent , i saved 6 rounds for the ride down the mountain, And had them in the gun, holstered on my hip, i surprised a nice sized doe , blacktail witch bounded maybe 30 yards off the trail and peered around a bush at me. I drew and sighted, and had it been season, and me with a doe tag , i am confident i could have head shot her !
The only draw back is the base pin still came part way out on Every shot, the wolf spring helped a little, last weekend it came almost all the way out a couple times.i am going to order a #5 Pin and the whole latch set up from Belt mountain. The one in the gun is just not tight enough ! ...tj3006
