I had been looking for a better mount to put a mini red dot sight on my BFR. Per this old thread ( singleactions.proboards.com/thread/26410/bfr-deltapoint-mount) I had started making my own mount, however as much as I would like to think it, I am not a machinist, nor do I have the "proper" tools to undertake such a job (FYI: A drill press, end mill, and harbor freight cross slide table is hardly a replacement for a true milling machine). However, all was not lost. After looking around a bit I found an MRDS mount from Evolution Gun Works (www.egwguns.com) made for the Ruger PC Carbine. It just so happens that the hole spacing fits the forward two sight mount holes on the BFR frame, exactly. The supplied screws are the same thread and of sufficient length to give enough thread engagement, even for a heavy kicker like the 500 JRH. The mount does overlap the rear sight just a touch so some relieving of the mount is necessary to ensure clearance, however once done, the mount looks like it was made for the BFR. One very nice thing is they offer this mount for several different MRDS footprints (Trijicon RMR, Leupold Deltapoint, Vortex Razor, and Vortex Venom, Burris, Doctor).

I really like the availability to leave the rear sight mounted while utilizing the red-dot as the primary optic.

Thanks for posting. I used the mount to put a Leupold DPP on my .44Mag BFR. I removed a little metal with a file on the bottom to clear the LPA sight.

Awesome, thanks for sharing this. I was thinking about adding a Holosun to one of mine. They are one tough little optic. I have them on several autos.

Here is what I have HE509T-RD X2 by Holosun Link to site. It does not have a normal picatinny rail so I need that Ruger pc carbine mount that he is talking about to mount the RMR adapter too. Wanting to know if it was holding up the the pounding of the BFR. Attachments:

Very nicely done! Excellent job! I also appreciate not removing the rear sight for the red dot. Great information.

So the mount has been in place since I posted this thread. The optic and mount have been trouble free so far. The gun sees a diet of full throttle loads and all has been stable.
Just a couple of additional notes on my particular installation.
1. The section in the mount, relieved for the rear sight, was done with an endmill chucked in my drill press and a cheap harbor freight cross slide.
2. When I installed the mount I used a little epoxy on the top strap to give some extra hold. I don’t think it is really necessary but that “an ounce of prevention…” phrase seems to be applicable. I was careful to keep it from infiltrating into the threads.

Nice work and thanks for sharing.
I am going over similar concepts to mount an RMR on my FT BH .44 Special.
