The fella that put all of the insulation in our house looks like bookworm. Boy howdy that's not the truth. He and a small group of friends go into shoothouses at night for their fun. That and long walks through the woods, at night. Their gear is identical. Gun, trigger, silencer, radio, monoculars, Glock, everything. They each wear a war belt with a blood pac and tourniquet among other things. The right monocular is IR nightvision. The left is thermal. The device on the front of the gun is a Meyers Mawl. He brought his gear out and let Lucas setup and shoot.

That could easily be over $20k right there.

Never seen a setup like that! Seems like viewing overload with thermal and I2 in the same binocular set up. Interesting! Expensive! I imagine the power set up is "on-off-both" for the tubes?

They are monos on a single mount, look like binos. Your eyes see both. With no critters in front of you, you see the IR daylight appearance on the right, if something with heat comes in, you see it. It didn't overwhelm me like I thought it would. He stated he's carrying 11K when they step into a house. The gun itself isn't remarkable by internet expert standards. Spike's DI upper and lower with a Geissele trigger, but it runs.

Bet Lucas just hated that.

It actually works pretty well. But some of the small thermals like the Trijicon Skeet are like 15K alone. Gets pricey ππ Looks like they have them set up as pistols with a brace and a LAW adaptor for folding the stock over. Fun stuff. If you pass through KS at some point, give me some warning so I know Iβm around and we will take Lucas out to one of the ranges and I guarantee we can get him smiling. π

You all are welcome to the night. At my age I'm in bed by 9:30.
I was stationed at Ft. Knox after coming back from Vietnam in 1969. I was the Officer In Charge of the night tactical training site that basic trainees went through-very primitive by today's standards. I can only imagine the night-time training options that new technologies provide.

I run a PAC-4 IR laser with a PVS-14 weapon mounted for hogs. Did that for years before I got my thermal. Only problem I ever had with it down here is when it is foggy or slight drizzle. I never would go out in the rain with mine. Thermal is great in fog but when the trees are still over 98 degrees it gets confusing as to what you are looking at. Cant tell you how many times I have put the perfect down wind stalk on a cattle molasses tub in the dark. LOL.
