That is Very cool, I had a 1A in 7x57. I only bout it cause it was a good deal, Mine had a long throat, and i could seat bullets way out there. Using H-414 i got consistent 3 shot groups of .75 2900 plus FPS. And that was a 20 inch barrel i think. Great round, I have a sporterized mil surp FN 98 now. I need to put a pad on it. Great buy ! enjoy ! The 1-A 7x57 is 22". The new 1-A in .275 is 24" but its not standard. What weight of bullet were you shooting?

140 grain, and i was trying to remember, 20 or 22. Came up with 20, I bought it for 400.00 with a leupold 4 power, sold the scope for 100. So i was in it 300.00. I never really liked hunting with it for some reason. I remember, the 1st three shots i fired after bore sighting were perfect for windage but hi on the very top of the target. I thought i missed with one of the 3 but when i looked closer the hole in the target that it hung from on the peg in the store was not very round anymore. Counted the clicks down on the 2X7 leupold i had put on it fired 3 more. And never moved the scope again. ...tj

Hey encore64, did I read correctly that you have a Ruger in 275 Rigby? The Express model? Did you say you may part with it?? I know that was a while back but thought I'd ask, it's on my bucket list...

Oh it is HIGH on my bucket list! I misunderstood something you wrote I guess, I got the impression you were looking to part with it. They are definitely hens teeth.

I originally ordered one for my 2018 Africa Hunt. I laid hands on it in 2020, three years after I stated trying to get one...

I've been searching as well, only seen one for sale on GB and missed the auction by hours. I know Lipsey's and Ruger are not likely to do another run, but they could do one of their Alaskan models in stainless and not hurt the collector value of the African guns. I'd settle for one of those, be cheaper than building one on an old Mauser action. Just something about those Express rifles speaks to me....

My profiled Stainless barrel showed up today... I can have it stamped what I want when it's in the shop... would 7 Mauser / 275 Rigby... or 275 Rigby / 7 X 57 be "cooler" Thinking I may just stamp it 275 Rigby, since it'll reside in the same rack as my 416 Rigby now back on track... I always loved the #1's & have a full rack of single shots... sadly no Rugers there yet... ... now where are those pictures

Jard makes a nice trigger for the #1, it's a one piece that comes with a lighter spring and options for more. Many people find the adjustment on the factory trigger does very little when adjusted as light as possible, the limiting factor is the upper spring they list as the sear spring.

I havent had the opportunity to try an after market No.1 triggers. I have three No.1s. I had one of them worked on by a smith and he did a great job. The other two are factory set and they dont need anything done. They are great as is.

I've only got the one, for years the factory trigger has been fine especially as a deer hunter, but i decided to see what the aftermarket one was like for long range silhouette shooting. Pretty simple, instead of a link between the trigger and the sear with each of those two having their own pivot and spring there is just a pivot for the sear and one spring. Factory multi-piece on the left, Jard one-piece on the right. If your gunsmith didn't stone the hammer and/or sear contact points, he might have just replaced the sear return spring with a lighter one.

I just put a Jard in a .25-06 I picked up this summer. The factory trigger was the worst I've ever tried. Not just hard and gritty, but the whole thing just felt sloppy. I polished the sear face some with it still in the gun and it made a world of difference. But it still felt sloppy and so "disconnected", the trigger from the break. I pulled the stock off and understood why. Prior to the .25-06 I've owned three other No.1's , one for over thirty years, but i'd never had a stock off till then. No wonder it felt disconnected with all those links and pieces. You look at the one piece aftermarket triggers and wonder why?
The Jard... a frustrating design for sure. The instructions are lacking, especially on the final step. You have to make an adjustment on the trigger, but you can't make it with the trigger in the gun. But you don't know you need this adjustment until you put the trigger in the gun. And you can't tell how much to adjust it with it out of the gun, which is the only place you CAN adjust it. lmao Hard to do it the right way. I eventually got frustrated and did it the wrong way, turning the set screw with a small needle nose pliers, then thread locking the crap out of it. Hope it stays.
FWIW I don't touch anything else on the Jard and it's still much better than my polished factory trigger.
