Well, a deal came up through my uncle that I couldn't say no too. But, unfortunately I can't do anything until quarantine is over as the other gentleman is cautious about everything, rightfully so.
All that was described to me was, "He has a Smith and Wesson 41 magnum with a 6.5" barrel and a un-fluted cylinder". Immediately I said call him and tell him I'll buy it, knowing the price already and regardless of what it really is, I know I'm getting a deal.
Now I'm waiting impatiently to be able to pick it up and transfer it.
I was told further, aside from the actual model that I can only guess is a 657-2 based off the description, that it's new in box un-fired still wrapped in the plastic and S&W paper. It has the original grip, Pachmayr grip and possibly a 3rd grip that may be wood with two boxes of factory ammo.
If I'm guessing correctly about it being a 657-2, it's always been a gun that's been on my grail list, so I'm really excited about the opportunity to pick it up and shoot the heck out of it.
Regardless, cannot go wrong with adding yet another 41 to the safe.

I have bought guns this way, sight unseen but based on the description was something I wanted. Usually turns out well for me.

It's arrived! 657-2 Sight unseen and it turned out the guy fired it only 9 times. He gave me all his ammo he had for it and showed me the ones he fired. It didn't come with the extra grips and things that he thought he had, but it is the original box with all the original paper work and cleaning rod. This is the exact 41 mag from Smith and Wesson I've always wanted. I don't know why, but it's always been high on my list to buy. I'm beyond excited to get it to the range and shooting. This marks #3 in the safe, with an original no dash 57 8 3/8" and a 6 1/2" Ruger blackhawk.

Wow that is a fantastic find. The dash 2 would have had all the endurance upgrades the N frames got at that time. The special order code dates it to 1991

You gotta keep 41 mags separated in the safe or they multiply and before you know it you own 12. Ask me how I know....

I have a similar gun. It’s a post lock 7.5 inch with an unfluted cylinder. I knew when I saw it I had to have it

Wow that is a fantastic find. The dash 2 would have had all the endurance upgrades the N frames got at that time. The special order code dates it to 1991 Thanks for that information! I didn't get a time to dig into the serial number and what not to see the manufacturing date, etc. But this makes me even happier knowing that the performance upgrades made it into this gun. I'm just excited overall honestly. You gotta keep 41 mags separated in the safe or they multiply and before you know it you own 12. Ask me how I know.... Oh, I know... I've only turned down one 41 mag that I've come across. Thankfully being in a city, there's not many that show up. But when they do... I "only" have 3 but that number will increase as time goes on without a doubt. I have a similar gun. It’s a post lock 7.5 inch with an unfluted cylinder. I knew when I saw it I had to have it I really that that 7.5" barrel, but honestly, I don't know why I feel like that 6.5" just feels that little bit better to me. Who knows, I'll find out more when I finally get to pull the trigger on it and see what she's capable of. I'm sure only good things, of course.

That sounded like a Classic Hunter and turns out it is! The first review I read of that model showed a gun with a fluted cylinder but they changed that, and for a while at least etched (lasered?) the words Classic Hunter into the barrel. Last change I saw was offering it in a 7.5" barrel version, any way it's a fine shooter. Congratulations!

Classic Hunters are awesome and there are variations....357, 44, 45, 10mm all exist and in different barrel lengths. Great find and happy hunting!
