That's an interesting thought, that whitetails cover more ground after a lethal hit. I've no experience with Mulies. Have stood over a couple dozen gut piles from whitetails I've taken, maybe that many of friends and helped trail, drag. Here, we were shot gun only, and archery until recently. Well muzzle loaders too. . Most of mine taken by shotgun and bow. At least 3 were heart shot with Brenekke solid slugs. Huge full diameter meplat with teeth ! You could put your thumb thru the hole in the heart after. They ALL ran 100-150 yds in a all out sprint. Then die mid-stride and tumble. Lung hits , other lethal hits, they get sneaky, and as much time as they have they use to find the nearest patch of hell they can. My .54 Lyman Great Plains rifle with patched round ball a good killer, heck mtn men dropped everything with similar.

Dick has pointed out excellent points. Like many others,, I have seen heart or lung shot whitetails run farther than you'd think possible. Lethal hits,, but not always DRT. Because of that,, and the VERY VALID point of a deer going off property, I started making neck shots long ago. Now,,, I teach Hunter Safety,,, and I always teach the heart/lung shots as the better method. Why? Because most hunters are NOT seriously accurate shooters. If I had a nickle for every time I've heard; "I can hit a pie plate (or a beer can) at 100 yds,,,,!" I'd buy a few more FA's & SMILE!!!!!!!!!! But,, a neck shot,, severs the spine or the spinal cord. DRT,,, QUICKLY! But a hunter MUST be willing to wait on the shot,, and be willing to allow a deer to pass if he feels he can't make a clean neck shot.
And yes,, a whitetail seems to know he's in his last few moments of life & wants to get into the nastiest, thickest, wettest cover he can before he dies if heart or lung shot.

Bula' you asked about experience with Hawk bullets.
I have none with them in .475, but I had them make up some 450gr. .025 jacket JHP in .510 for me as medium game bullets. I’ve yet to recover one from pigs, deer, or an Aoudad I shot. Exit holes vary but 3/4” is pretty consistent, they are being pushed at 1100 from my little 500L. I’m planning on contacting them for a 400gr. version.

I have a hard time thinking G7 BC after looking at G1 for so long. It'd be nice if they put up some doppler BC data. It's also hard to make the jump when Bergers and Scenars are so nice and relatively affordable. In the case of big bores, you've gotta demonstrate that the hammer beats out much cheaper cast lead.
