I have an OM Single six with both .22 lr and magnum cylinders. Thinking about doing something with it.
I have heard of them being converted to. .38 special so the following questions apply
Can this be done? What other calibers can it be converted to? What gunsmith will do this? Can they use the original barrel and cylinder or is a blank cylinder bored to 5 shot and a new barrel needed?
I have two SS's and like both of them but tend to carry one and not the other. I figure if it is in a larger caliber, I may grab the other for service against quill pigs more often.

Most gunsmiths won't do a New Model S6 in 38 Special. More times than not, the loading gate gets into the transfer bar channel. Dave Clements used to do them, but it's no longer on his website.
Both the 40 S&W and 10mm can be done on the New Model. I highly recommend either of them.
The 38 Super works on the New Model and provides plenty of power. Also a great conversion.

Tom Casselman had it built by Alan Harton many, many years ago. I believe he paid north of three. No part of that gun isn't massaged by Alan's skillful hands. The top strap is something given what it came from. Notice no base pin latch.

Model P Jr? Six shot, 3-screw, no transfer bar, more Colt than Ruger, several barrel lengths, birdshead available, brass back strap available. offered as .38, .32 and .22. Around $550 online.
Somewhat surprised that a Ruger dealer exclusive has not been offered as a .38 on the Single Six.

I think bushog had an oversize 6 shot Single six from CCG that he had for sale a while back. Maybe he would share a picture of it........

What would the biggest to rechamder and rebarrel a 32 H&R mag to? I just did a stainless Mini Vaquero from 32 H&R to 10mm Auto. The real tight spot is the loading gate area. At the 10mm things are really close. It's necessary to remove material there, and it's possible to get into the channel where the transfer bar rides.
