I can't say I've seen a color cased gun with a blue loading gate, but I like it. Color casing looks good, nice bright blue polish. Neat ejector rod that almost looks shop made. Checkered hammer spur makes a bigger difference than most would assume. Black powder bevel looks done right. Screw on front sights are always a good idea, and the polished Fermin version sits up there well. I would imagine there's enough sight there for any load, and the intent would be to trim the front down as desired by the shooter with their pet load. The wear in the cylinder notch leads without a drag line says it's likely well timed. Transition to the No 5 grip frame is clean. The flat of the grips mates with the grip frame well (PC is milled, so essentially decked) and the grips contour well. The only area for improvement is the difficult to fit Bisley style grip frame to main frame radius and the caliber font on the barrel. That deep blocky etched marking is a common finding. I also think Reeder etched markings look bad and JRH's hand engraved marking, while a noble attempt, also looks a little messy. Linebaugh, Bowen, Harton, and Stroh markings look right to my eyes. Stamped caliber markings have a period correct look that etching can't capture.
The Micro rear sight sits a little loose and askew in the channel but that's all Ruger.
Am I seeing things or is that grip frame real thin up front? It makes for a classy transition.
All in all a nice looking No 5 sans latch. Octagon barrel, PC No 5 grip frame, horn grips, and PC OM Bisley parts add up quick along with CCH. A good one to own.

Prior to this listing, I had no idea Ryan did any kind of work on guns at all. Just seen his sales ad on Ruger Forum for years. How am I so late to the party with so many others knowing he does custom work and CCH? Did I miss some announcement at Ruger Forum or something?
