WILLICD: I SUGGEST A 5 1/2 INCH BANDED BARREL SO ERH LENGTH DOES NOT BECOME AN ISSUE, AND A 7 1/2 INCH OCTAGON.

My personal preference would be neither on a mid-frame .44Spl with a standard plowhandle type grip frame. For me, either option needs a #5 or longer grip frame like the Bisley or 1860 to balance aesthetically.

I agree, but don't think I've got the coin to drop $350 for brass when I can get SS or CM for $100. I believe Power Customs make hammers & triggers for this conversion? Gentlemen. Might be a good time to let yall in on what i have been working on for the past couple of months here. Good topic, the old model with Bisley! And one of my favorite dreams and plans for the future. Well it is here! First problem is of course the hammer and trigger. Power custom does make a beautifull Hammer with a fat back that mimics the Standard Ruger bisley Hammer to a T. However we have always been plagued with the fact that the only Trigger option we had was to use an Old model Narrow or SBH wide standard blackhawk trigger. Until Mr Clements offered a trigger with a spure on the back of it for use with the new model Grip Frame. It utilizes the New model trigger return spring. However Mr Clements The awsome craftsman an Gentleman he is, is ready to Hang it up. I am going to take his Hammer and trigger designs from here for him as well as RW Grip frames versions. And i have been a busy little Beaver. I have made a couple for myself over the years but i now have a production model almost ready. There are three types of triggers available shortly. # 1 ,Mr Clements version for use with the new model grip Frame. #2, My version for use with the original plunger spring trigger return for the power custom Hammer. Which by the way i really like. # 3, My version for use with the Beautiful Hammer that Mr Clements designed! The Clements Version is beefier in the sears surfaces and comes off exceptionally clean. I prefer the old model to be an old model but i have understood why the various designs have had to be a blended. It all boils down to availabillity. That will end shortly. I offer A Bisley Grip Frame for the old model with a standard Blackhawk trigger guard and one with a Semi Bisley trigger guard. However because of the placement of the trigger, the trigger guards both had to be set in the standard location for a Blackhawk rather than a Bisley which of course was an eighth of an inch forward! Giving more Knuckle room. I love the old model with a REAL BISLEY and a plunger spring style trigger return. It is a Real Geometrically identical Bisley Grip Frame with a real Bisley Trigger for the old model. It will be available shortly. I have several going out for test this week! Here is a SA OM you have seen before on this forum with a different set of Britches on. I have another version of the trigger that is a smidge longer to fill up the trigger guard hole a little more. Let me Know what you think Guys.

Hmmmmmm....what about a banded octagon barrel......? Don't know how it would look. I did a quick google image search and couldn't find a banded octagon barrel. I think it would look great, but, has it ever been done? In my limited experience I truly don't know. This could be a first, and great idea thunderhorse. I guess it would be difficult, but what the heck, this is a custom single action were talkin' about. Could be awesome!

If we are talking about a Barrell Band like i am picturing in my head, On an Octoganal such as i have built a Hundred or so of with the addition of an even larger band at the end of the Barrel. Woo Hoo, The rear sight would have to be an Inch tall! Hahaha. I love crazy stuff man. If those of you that Know me havent figure out yet! Talk to me guys. what are you thinking. Round or just stepped up? R

How about a tapered octagon, thin enough at the end so the band isn't too much of hassle in terms of front blade height!!!

Here is something Ultra Funky Munkey. 22 cal Somethig stupid. I love 22 Hornet and 218 Bee so i made me a gopher getter with a four power. A buddy of mine has lost his mind over 5.7 by 28 and bought everything on the planet in that caliber and boasted that he had everything chambered in that round, soooooo. I made a 7 shot cylinder to go with this herman munster seven shooter. Now, HE DOESNT. Neener neener! i need to finish it so i can turn some heads or possibly some stomachs after a hard night of drinking and you need to throw up! I have a feeling im going to totally diggit or absolutely hate it. Either way i was trying to dream up a crazy long barrell and having to beat the snot out of a stuborn part on a machine tool i was repairing, i picked up a chisel or actually a punch, that was about a foot long and octoganall, tapered off round to the tip and thought, HMMMMMM. THATS IT. So ofcourse out comes the 3 foot chunk of 1 in 9 Krieger barrell blank and two hours later, Waalaah. I have so many super blackhawk take off grip frames laying around, i just got all michelangelo with the steel and when i was done i just couldnt make up my mind if i liked it or not! Either way i need to finish it and see if it shoots as good as my other 22 something stupid combos. The bisley hammer allows a little bit more room between the scope for my fat thumb when i cock it. Whata ya think Guys, Finish it or take a plasma torch to it? Hahaha Go ahead, trust me, you wont hurt my feelings!

Banded for the shorty, octagonal for the long..... For SO long, I have associated short bbls with bands....perils of looking at Mr. Bowens stuff, I guess:)
IMO, that is the quintisential look.
Good luck in whatever you decide!!

Well, I ended up buying a round shilen blank long enough for a 6 1/2" hunting gun and a 4 5/8" carry gun. Looks like both will be round with barrel band sights. Just need to get with Ronnie and get some old model bisley grip frames!

IMO, a barrel should be either octagon or round with a barrel band. When companies mix round with octagon the results are almost always distasteful. Stick with one or the other, not a mix. My personal favorites are octagon.

I like it.
How is the 5.7 doing over the chronograph?
Factory ammunition should be about 50k PSI in the chamber. Zoom!
