I am bored and my "gun fund is flush with cash so am looking for a new toy. First up is a BFR in 475/480 with the Bisley grip and either a 6.5 or 7.5 inch barrel. How are these revolvers straight out of the box in terms of quality and trigger pull? Do all Bisley models come with the smooth white grips? I have owned BFR's in the past. My last, a 500 JRH had Jacks grip mod which I liked. What are your opinions of the current Bisley grip in the 500 Linebaugh?
Thanks, appreciate the input.

I have the 500 Linebaugh in a 4 5/8 barrel. It was a PC order. Love the Bisley grip. My favorite by far. Gun shoots great. Highly recommend it.

I recently got one 500 Linebaugh 5.5. I love mine. The trigger could use some work. The fit and finish is great. I think of the quality somewhere between Ruger and Freedom Arms. Great gun. God forbid I have anything nice though. After my first range trip. I bumped it on my kitchen table and it hit the floor. Chipped the edge of the grip (small). This is killing my OCD. Called BFR and they need the gun and 400 dollars. I'll live with it.

That very well may be in the future.

Changed my mind. If I buy a Bisley BFR it will be a 475/480. The biggest game I might shoot is a whitetail deer and up to 40 yards. No sense punishing myself anymore with the really big bruisers.

I had my standard grip frame converted to bisley and fitted with black micarta grips and had them put a new wide spur hammer on it for I think $470-ish and change? I'm wondering if they took it as you wanted to convert to a bisley, since that service with grips runs I think $389.

Am getting very serious about buying a 475/480 Bisley. I mentioned before that I owned a 500 JRH with Jacks grip mod on it. For you guys who owned the older BFR with the plow handle and have since bought a Bisley...…. How do you like the Bisley model compared to the plow handle?

My grips are the white plastic. They said something to the effect like that one person does the fit and finish. They would have to make a new set of grips because they are hand made. Can't just send me a replacement in the mail. Would have to be fitted and refinished to the gun. Not doing it. If I had the talent I would make a set myself. When the time and funds allow, I will get ivory micarta made. Or maybe black. Either way 400 is too much from BFR IMO.

FYI related to this. Rwgripframes.com is ready to start offering black miccarta grip panels for our non standard shapes, but also the standard Bisley and the Keith #5. They are $50 a pair and come with the screw and escutcheon. Also are shaped to give you a good starting point to finish how you like. And they work best when paired with our frames but could be fit to any frame if you know what you're doing.
We don't have pics for most yet, but check out the pics for the Bisley Junior to get an idea of how they will come in the box. Also there's a picture of finished grips on a gun to show you what it could look like.
email us at rwgripframes@gmail.com with any and all questions.
RDW might gripe at me for offering info when I am a rookie in the single actions world, so run it by him first if I am not making sense. LOL!

I'm so sad it took me so long to get the bisley. I run my 500JRH on fulltilt and honestly, it's a joy to shoot now. Before I longed to shoot lighter loads so I could just enjoy the gun, now, I enjoy it mild to wild and can shoot it all day long with the bisley and a pair of gloves (I always wear gloves regardless of caliber since in 99% of my cases, I'm going to be wearing them in the field) FYI related to this. Are there plans to offer any other variation of micarta or possibly other materials as well?
