Not big into air rifles, but this one has me thinking... It's a top-break single-stroke gas piston gun... in .30 Caliber. I've watched videos of people testing it, and shooting 1-hole groups at fifty yards. It'll launch a .44gr. pellet at 540-550 fps, for 28-30 ft./lbs, which is a lot for a spring-air rifle. Turkish walnut stock with adjustable cheek-piece and adjustable stock-length, adjustable trigger, optic-fiber fixed sights, a hybrid Picatinny/11mm mount for optics. The Vortex gas piston that replaces a metal spring is smooth and quiet with very little vibration. It has an automatic safety and anti-beartrap mechanism for safety. The barrel has an integrated suppressor, and it's so effective that the sound of the pellet striking a wood target at 25 yards is louder than the shot. People have taken coyotes and javelina with these rifles as far as fifty yards. One ballistic gel test got 14" of penetration with one of the available pellets. Cheap as chips to shoot, dead quiet, nicely equipped and finished and able to take respectable-size critters at close range- for $300. Yeah, I'm thinking I might.

Hadn't seen this new technology. Decent price on rifle....., BUT pellets at about 14 cents each are not economical considering I'm loading 22 Hornets with cast for about 5 cents each. The pellet price is what knocks this off the shelf....................

The pellet price is what knocks this off the shelf.................... What attracts me is how quiet it is for the level of power it represents. I live in a very suburban setting, so noise can be an issue. I can dispose of a varmint, or just target practice in the yard with the neighbors none the wiser. I also don't cast bullets, so that takes that economy off the table for me. Hmmm... I can swage pellets from lead wire... that'll knock the price down... not to mention keeping me from worse mischief...

I can swage pellets from lead wire... that'll knock the price down... not to mention keeping me from worse mischief... Yep, either casting or swaging a pellet would do. If you find a way to swage a pellet, I would probably get one, after I had a swage in hand. I would offer to run a GB for the HB pellet, but would never get enough takers for it to run.
BTW, you can get most small capacity cases to pellet gun sound signatures by loading them correctly for that. You probably have something now that would do.

I have a Beeman Kodiak .25cal air rifle, and IIRC, it puts out around 28-30ft/lbs. It's quite the thumper compared to my .177 R1, and I like the bigger pellets because I don't fumble with them as much as the .177's. That Hatsan is pretty interesting, and $299 isn't a bad price! My Kodiak and the R1 are both a little loud to shoot in the backyard. It's funny, when I was on Miha's website the other day I noticed that he makes .22 and .25 caliber airgun molds, and I was thinking about ordering one to see how they shoot. Maybe if the .30 caliber airguns become popular enough, he'll add that to his line.

There was a 9mm PCP pellet rifle on the market. Don't know if it is still available. Read a few articles many years ago of shooting boat tail bullets out of the larger bore pellet rifles.

Doug I have the Beenam R10 in .20 caliber. I liked the Kodiak but really wanted the Crow Magnum in .25 caliber. I wanted the Theoben version because it seemed just a touch nicer than the Beeman rebrand. Also, I can't get either now, as Theoben is closed. PCP is getting earlier to use now that tanks and filling locations are easier to come by. I can get fills to 6K psi no problem and the tanks have come down in price (for the 4500 psi tanks, the 5500 psi tanks are still spendy). Now do I spend the money on a high end Daystate or Airforce or keep buying powder burners.

Interesting...especially at that price. Wonder how hard "hard to cock" is...condidering my screwed up rotator?

Squatch, I have a .22 caliber R10. I really wanted the Crow Magnum, but I couldn't afford it at the time. IIRC, I think it was almost twice the price of the Kodiak. I read somewhere that you can send the Kodiak out and have it converted to a gas piston system similar to that of the Crow magnum. One of these days I'd like to get myself a PCP.

Interesting...especially at that price. Wonder how hard "hard to cock" is...condidering my screwed up rotator? At fifty pounds the cocking force is not trivial, but using two hands and proper leverage it ought to be manageable.

I have a Beeman Kodiak and thought it was a monster, but this Hatsan is a true magnum class air gun from what I see. We buy .177 and .22 pellets by the sleeve but would like to start casting for the Kodiak .25, MP has a great looking mold for it.

I've a .22cal Beeman that is crying for attention here. A .30cal pellet rifle..oooh ! How I would have loved that as a boy ! A solution to a number of urban, 'burb problems I can imagine.

There are several Pellet Gun hunting videos on YouTube. Some large animal kills that are bordering upon "stunts".

There are some pretty amazing air rifles out there. Check out utahairguns.com/. They have some 22 - 35 cal air rifles shooting hybrid pellets that are pretty capable. They also have a YouTube channel. Ted holdover is also a pretty good YouTube channel.

Have you seen this guy with the Hatsun Piledriver in .457"? He's shooting smaller deer and javelina and the slug shows complete penetration. DRT performance. He says he get s 5 shots around 740 fps. 525 grains? Holy crap! www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJkq_e4H4AE
