For you gentlemen who have the Buckeye 10mm/38-40s, what have you found for throat dimensions and groove diameters. I have one on the way and will do all the measurements when it arrives. I am curious because I have a Star sizing die for .403 bullets for my Powermag and wonder if .403 is going to be too tight for the throats with Starline brass. I know I'll have to check all this when it arrives but the thought popped into my head and I thought I'd toss it out there for discussion.

I don't remember what brass I used, but 0.401" on the bullet was as much as I could use.

I have had one since the early '90s. The 10mm cylinder is right on @ 0.400-401" but the 38-40 cylinder is way under sized at 0.395" or so. With the 10mm installed the gun shoots better than I can with almost anything. With the 38-40, not good.

Just to be on the safe side I ordered a Lee push through .401 last night.

Just to be on the safe side I ordered a Lee push through .401 last night. But, when you push that bullet thru .395" throats, it's going to be terribly undersized for the barrel grooves. Leading and poor accuracy will likely follow.

If the throats are that undersized it will go off to Doug Phillips or Fermin for a hoggin out.

If the throats are that undersized it will go off to Doug Phillips or Fermin for a hoggin out. The old 38-40 is no joke when loaded to modern ballistics. I push the 200 grn GT Hollow Point at 1400 fps from my 6-Shot Revolver. Add 200 fps for my 5-Shot Guns.
