I thought you already had a Hunter in 414sm??? I’d be looking at the 180XPB, and see what kind of speed and penetration you could get out of it.

Sounds like a fair trade. What caliber R8?. Trapr I bought a 375 H&H in a pelican case with a Zeiss 5-15x. I have a 9.3x62 and a 28 Nosler so I traded the 375 barrel and bolt face for 308. The R8 is a fun gun. I have 3 now. The other is a 280.

Finally I was able to get home and open this box from Hamilton. I’m sure it has an Axis in its future.

I don't know what you plan to shoot with your 414, but you don't want to use the 170gr Sierra HP on big hogs. Back in 1989 I shot a couple of big hogs in Carrizo Springs, TX with a 41 Jurras Auto Mag, and that 170gr Sierra flattened out like a lead nickel. Penetration was less than dismal.

Tony Rumore Tromix Amen to that! i believe West Texas Hawgs have a genetic mutation to grow armor plating under there skin after they are 3 years of age. And an extra strong plow scoop built into there snout that is very effective at mowing up my under ground sprinkler system. Hahaha On my Pops old place outside of Pawnee we had a designated spot called the PIG PIT. If you dont believe a Buzzard can exceed 30 Lbs, wait till you give them a steady diet of oinkers everyday. LOL. Them dam things would follow us out to the Pig Pit. They new if they saw the old blue GMC heading that direction, it was chow time.
