Bob I was just about to bid on that gun when I checked the bid history and thought I recognized your handle. That is when I PMed you and asked if that wasn't you. Once I knew it was you I relayed that it was a 2nd Gen gun and waited to see if you won. You can't go wrong at that price and It will make a great base gun........ ...always the Gentleman...and thank you sir... Heading out shortly to a friend's place to shoot...going to take a long a matching gun in .22/.22 Magnum... ![](https://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbthreads/gallery/80/full/61897.jpg)

Very cool and good luck with your project. Were all New Frontiers made with a case colored cylinder frame?

You will not find any disagreement with me. Fine indeed. Do you have a favorite/preferred barrel length in those three?

7-1/2" FOR SHOOTIN'; 4-3/4" FOR PACKIN'; 5-1/2" FOR A GOOD COMPROMISE.

Just got back from shooting the two guns... Very happy with the NF... Shot well although with the rear sight adjusted all the wasy down a 158 grain bullet hits just over the sights...could use just a little more adjustment... This Frontier went cheap...and two cylinders...cheap enough to have the barrel shortened.. www.gunbroker.com/item/861659490

I acquired a short barrel NF several years ago advertised as chambered in 44-40. Got it and sure enough that is what it said on the barrel. However a 44-40 cartridge would not chamber, but a 44 Special does. So now I have a bastard NF 44 Special? Not sure if Colt ever made this as a convertible. I have now acquired a 7.5 inch barrel marked 44 Special and may have that installed. Somebody need a short barrel marked 44-40?

Would make a dandy two cylinder set up.

I’m not real sure about NFs, but I have a 3rd gen short barreled SAA marked 44-40 with both cylinders and original box. So, yes they did produce convertibles.
