I make a semi-copy of the Lyman Devistator hollow point (around 260 grains in my alloy). If you would like some I would happily send them to you free of charge. I keep them around for "social" occasions.

I think you just bought the best configuration of SA Ruger has ever made. I have that gun in a Bisley and a plow handle, and the plow handle from the factory felt like it had action work, trigger job, and endshake corrected by a top smith. Luck of the draw., but it's easily the best VALUE I've found in a gun.

Congrats on your new revolver! I recently purchased the same gun a few months ago. I’m very happy with it and I’m sure you’ll love yours too!

Congratulations on the new sixgun! I ended up picking up the same one recently (shorter barrel however..) and just been reloading ammo in the mean time. Only thing I have done to it thus far is put a new thicker set of hogue cocobolo grips on mine.

I keep them around for "social" occasions. Tell me more about the hollow points. Do they expand? I’ve been using Keith type bullets and they punch through everything. Not had a chance to take it deer hunting yet. Shoot some coons and coyotes. Coons just roll over. Coyotes run until out of gas then fall over. Never had a complaint with them. Just curious about the hollow points

I cast these around 12 bhn and run them about 950 fps. Yes, they expand immediately upon impact with wet medium. Smaller hogs and coyotes typically have a round circle of lead within about the first 4 or so inches where the nose folds back and shears off, then the expanded base carries through the other side when using the round hollow points. For the penta points, it is typical that the hollow point opens a little slower (slightly deeper into flesh) and retains more weight. If the angle of impact is acute, sometimes one or two petals will shear off fairly early but the rest of the bullet carries through quite well. These hollow points work so well, I don't cast solids with this mold anymore. I have a 4 cavity and I run two round pins and two penta pins and load them over the same powder charge.

"I've done some cleaning but am a little cautious yet about taking it too far apart. Maybe soon."
I realize that there are a bunch of Studley Do Rights around these parts that can strip down and reassemble a Ruger single action before their bacon and coffee and get the loading gate spring nestled just right every time. But beware, some us are just mere mortals. Shoot it first before surgery. Lovely piece, ride the high country.
