A few months ago I asked for some input on what would be a good general purpose single action for a newbie. I got a lot of good information here. I thank you all for that. I decided to go with the Bisley .44 special. Hoped to find a used one but those seem to be like hen's teeth. I picked this up online right before everything went crazy. Fit and finish are very nice, even the grips fit nicely on it. This was new but was manufactured a few years ago. Picked up a Galco SAO holster and thankfully didn't delay on getting reloading supplies for it. For once in my life I bought stuff a week early. With the things going on now it still might be a while before I can get out to shoot it. I wish I had my own property to shoot on. I have been doing some dry firing to get use to the feel of it. I may get some holly to try my hand at grip making while the world is stopped. Just wanted to give a follow up to my earlier questions. Once I can get out to do some shooting I will let you all know how that goes. Tim

Tim ***** Tim.... keep up the dry fire, the whole thing: balance, breathing, picture & focus, SQUEEZE with FOLLOW THROUGH. It is life. Pays huge dividends. Np firing pin system is more durable than Ruger’s. Bill Ruger set the benchmark with tall legs. Small Blackhawk .44’s I’ve shot (not mine) are beautiful sixguns, fine shooters. David Bradshaw

Bet that ain't yer last single action, or Bisley, maybe not even your last .44 Special. I thought I had enough with .41 mag, .45 Colt, and 454 Casull, but these guys keep me on the burner for .44 Special now.

Fantastic Combo! Are you handloading for it? Might research the poor-mans trigger job and give it a good cleaning while you wait, all just to familiarize yourself with the workings.

Very nice. I have a 5.5” 44 Spl, although mine is not a Bisley.

I got one of Lipseys when they first came out, not Bisley, very accurate little gun. You'll like it, guaranteed.

Yes I'm hand loading for it. Picked up some 240gr SWC and some Power Pistol to start with. I've looked up some of the DIY trigger jobs. Weight wise it isn't too bad right now so I'm going to wait until after I shoot it some to change anything. I've done some cleaning but am a little cautious yet about taking it too far apart. Maybe soon. Tim

Kudos on a nice first SA.
Get some Holly & go to work. Grip making is a lot of fun,, and it'll help make the gun feel more like YOUR gun too! Plus,, holly can be treated with Tru-oil to look like aged ivory,, and it looks great!
