Just bought this Ruger 9mm carbine on GB. I think it will end up replacing my Mossberg 590 12 gauge for home duty. I have a decent red dot sight and rings to mount when the rifle arrives.

Very nice! I have a bcm upper coming tomorrow. Had a extra lower set up for 22 lr upper ,realized having a 556 to stick on it would be prudent in times like these.

I have the standard takedown PC9 carbine and like it a lot. The factory Ruger mags fit tight in the mag well and didn’t wiggle but I had only what came with the rifle. We quickly changed the well out to take Glock mags, they don’t fit as tightly and wiggle a bit but feed just the same. So far the little gun has had no ,malfunctions of any kind with 3 different jacketed bullets all in the 124gr class. We have been cleaning up bullets I’ve picked out of estate sales and they should be gone soon, and then will go exclusively to cast, I think a 147gr would really shine in these things.

I like that...
I always wanted a Ruger PC-40... thought that would make a dandy HD gun...
last couple years though, I've been leaning towards a suppressed plastic High Cap 45 Auto as the perfect HD gun...
In reality though, for the last 15 years, my HD gun has been my carry gun, as it's always on my belt in the holster on a hook by my side of the bed... Mrs HD gun is in my gun safe room, just off the bedroom, where the 3-4 carry gun rotation library await, loaded & ready to go... if I needed back up for a HD situation

Made a few changes here at the home front. I've always carried at home since a gun on your person is always gonna be quicker than a gun in a drawer. Changed my pocket carry "home gun" from a S&W 442 to a Glock 26. Still have an 870 with-in reach, but also set out a BCM AR-15 with an Aimpoint and light. None of our guns can do us much good if we need them and they are in the safe.

MK70SS, I sure would like to hear a review on your new gun when you have and some rounds through it. I am interested in getting one for my wife. I pulled the trigger yesterday, so to speak, to stimulate the economy. It was my civic duty. SIG MCX Virtus pistol 5.56mm, 11" barrel, stock folds to make the unit just 20". It can shoot with the stock folded as well. Started the NFA form 1 to register it as a SBR. My Go-To property rifle has been a lightweight AR-15 that I've had since 1989, but with a 16" barrel it is just a little long for doing active work or hiking. My 16 acres butts up to 2200 acres of forest where I spend most of my time. Lots of critters out there, wolves, lions, coyotes, bears. Last summer while exploring I came across two of our local tweaker-convict poachers and I didn't have my AR with me because it was too long for what I was doing. I had my 1911 with three extra mags. I stayed concealed and they were within 35 yards of me and my dog. If they burned me it could have gotten ugly, in the middle of nowhere, and I don't like being under gunned. Problem solved.

Sighted it in today. Shot from a bench using the range bag as a rest at 50 yards. Ammo was Blazer brass cased 115 gr FMJ. The group is 5 shots. Gun shoots pretty well. After sighting in, I was banging steel plates as fast as I could get the dot on them and you almost can’t miss at 50 yards. Anything that needs shooting at longer distances than 100 yards and I am grabbing the .308.
