I'd be on one in a heart beat to also go with my BFR JRH

"I'll take two", An Alaskan reload ! As opposed to the old term, NY reload, having two J-frames or similar.

Talked to Jack today... I'm on the list for a 5 shot 500 JRH Mr. Wheelman, been curious. What does it mean to be "...on the list..." with Jack? Does he call you when ready to begin your project? Maybe I should talk to him but non-committal at this point. Flyingzebra! Love that beast. It's kind of like Trapr's "Bear Spray" as far as Powerful Packin' Pistol. singleactions.proboards.com/thread/21263/bear-spray-500-linebaugh

Ramar... sounds like he is going to do a small group of 5 shot double actions, & setting up cylinders & some parts... so one the the available parts groups has my name on them... funny, now I need to come up with an Alaskan... I'm keeping my 480 as is... & I sold my 454 Alaskan a month or so ago... now need to find another at reasonable price to convert...

Thanks for that info, magnumwheelman! Hope you find the right Alaskan for your project. Ramar that's pretty much the minimum place in the table it seems. I have one double action 5-shot big bore planned, and it might end up being two. The cylinder assemblies come first as they are mostly an unobtanium item. Alaskan donor guns are thick on the ground.

I've actually found that often the big bore snubbies ( especially a big heavy one like the Alaskans ) offer less brutal "physical" recoil than their longer barrel counterparts... ( probably in part has something to do with energy / time the bullet imparts into the longer barrel, being greater than energy / time imparted into a shorter barrel ) I can't say that about about "audible" recoil ( muzzle blast )... my previously owned 454 Casull offered up a concussion wave that could be felt as well as heard...
the hot loads I was shooting in my 500 JRH BFR had a concussion wave out of the 6" ish barrel... expecting the physical recoil to be slightly less, & the concussion wave to be more brutal, load for load
